Nintendo buys PlayStation if Sony dies?

I simply do not trust Nintendo to run World Wide Studios. I think they'd strangle the creativity and diversity of the developers and that most of the key personnel would be gone within a couple of years, leaving nothing but hollow shells (pun intended).

That, I think, would leave Microsoft as the big winner, as most of the people who made studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica great would likely become third-party or perhaps even join Microsoft.

Sure they could! Let's just assume Sony wants to sell PlayStation for some Reason. All Nintendo has to do now is to outbid Apple, Google, Microsoft, Samsung and others! All that massive Money Nintendo has in the Bank? Peanuts for every one of those mentioned companies. So yeah, no.

the playstation brand is the strongest console brand in the world.
nintendo can't afford playstation....even microsoft will have extreme difficulty trying to acquire the ps brand even ever it was to be up for sale because google, apple, samsung and any big european electronic company would be coming forward to buy.

I don't see that happening. I see a bigger possibility of Nintendo being bought out by someone like Samsung or Google.
Actually, the best fit would be Facebook buying Nintendo and putting all their games online with in-app purchases. That would be awesome.

No,it wouldn't!All who say that,must stop!Where are angry birds?Not to forget farmville...

The only funny is the fact that you aren't rationalizing why my post is funny!

I stated some facts!

Sony has been on the point of demise for some time, but they are stabilising things

Their "losses" this year were basically entirely down to a massive write down in the mobile phone division

This is not going to happen

I would not be a fan of that. I like Nintendo, for what it is (family friendly, gameplay focused gaming) but I enjoy what PS brings to the table. I guess if they did buy PS, they would stick with the PlayStation console (as it is currently much more popular than nintendo brand HOME consoles) put all of their mario and zeldas in it and the Xbox department and phil would implode.

Ew no. They should work out an agreement where Nintendo makes games exclusively for Sony hardware and is treated like a first party studio as far as access to hardware specs and everything but not forced to do anything they don't want. In other words, even though by all accounts Sony doesn't force stuff out the door or overly pressure their first party guys, Nintendo would be able to make whatever they want and not be pushed as far as deadlines and maintain a degree of autonomy but keep being able to develop for ONE system (simpler) and Sony would get to advertise all those great IP as exclusive. It would give Nintendo a bigger install base than ever along with more advanced hardware and better and more extensive online. The main problem would be Nintendo doesn't like to lower software prices which Sony is prone to do after a little while.

Sony has pretty much turned things around now, so the entire premise of this thread is wrong.

But to answer your question, no, they couldn't.
