Forums - Gaming Discussion - Hackers Explain Why They Took Down XBL And PSN, XBL Was Easier To Hack

Yeah, a simple DDoS attack is going to make sony up their security. Not the huge PSN fiasco a few years ago, not the fiasco this month, but a DDoS attack against their PSN service.

Neither PSN nor XBL were "hacked".

PSN is intermittently down for me. I've been playing Destiny this morning, but couldn't log this evening.

I don't like that they're doing this, but they're right. Especially when people are paying to play online.

No, they're not right. a DDoS isn't a hack. That's like  some guy driving a truck through the front doors of a gym to prove their security isn't good enough. "People are paying, you better upgrade security!"

As if stopping massive DDoS attacks is done with a flip of a switch. There is no short term measure to stop it and any long term measure isn't worth the time or money.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They're just a bunch of sociopaths.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

PSN down for me since TUESDAY afternoon.

Please stop spreading FUD. A DDoS attack is not a "hack" by any stretch of the imagination.

Funny that Microsoft's security was much easier to take down, contrary to what some claim. Also Sony seems to have implemented new security measures, which is also something we heard about after 2011, but this confirms it.

What part don't you understand, They DID NOT break Microsoft's or Sony's security. A DDoS is not a hack.
