Forums - Movies & TV - The Interview has been watched 77.5 million times on Youtube!

I'm glad the movie is doing well. It kind of is biting North Korea back. All that initial hacking and censoring just spiked up interest.

Eh, two things. Still don't think it is North Korea, but lets ignore that.

The hack I think did more damage to Sony outside of this one movie.

I wasn't expecting a transcendent comedy. I expected the juvenile and gross-out comedy James Franco and Seth Rogen tend to make. And I wasn't disappointed.

All this situation was a great advertisment! Some wouldn't watch it under other circumstances!:P
The power of curiosity!:P

Any publicity is good publicity..

It was all a marketing plot! :P

So 6 dollars a rental times 80 million equal......

Sony execs just hired more Korean cyber terrorist to their marketing team!

Plus people who bought it, made this on its way to a billion dollar movie?

"But it’s unclear how many of these represent individuals who paid to rent the film. Users who pay can easily share the link with friends."

So not every one of those 77.5 million views was paid, I hope Sony financials in January/February will gives us more clarity on how much the movie actually made/lost.

Oh and I just read that the 77.5 million include trailer views since the trailer and the full movie apparently have the same youtube link, that should distort the number quite a bit.

You find it funny, I read from a lot of people that they were really pissed at the movie not being released worldwide

oh....trailers as well. hmmm...thar is different. But it is the weekend, this number is bound to skyrocket over 100 million and beyond soon.

I wonder if this point in history will be forever known for making new releases on the internet a popular thing? Now that everyday joes see how easy it is to stream it.

The interview might very well set a precedent for that, but we'll see. I'm assuming that that is still some ways off though.

And yeah I'm not totally sure the trailer thing is true, I read it in a reddit comment, I have no credible source to back it up.
