Considering that each console tailors it's games towards certain genres, I would say that each group of players has different taste in games and that's the main difference. The other difference between 'em is what company policies they are tolerant of and that might make someone go to a different console.

Personally, I don't like to know how many hours I put into a game. I rather just put my head in the sand and pretend that I have a normal social life. haha

I'm not sure if that's the case with Xbox and PS.  They cater to the exact same audience.

Not really. PS4 is headed more into cinematic single-player whilst Xbox is headed more into online multiplayer/worlds.

Huh?   PS4 paid for exclusivity content on Destiny and it's their biggest game so far.  They both rely on online multiplayer world this gen.

Yeah, but that makes sense because it fills a hole in their lineup. Much the same way Microsoft went out of their way to pay for Tomb Raider, and Nintendo paid for Bayonetta. Both games outside of their wheelhouse.

I think he is talking about first party games since those show at what each console is really tailored to. Anyways third party games have already migrated to multiplayer gaming.

Yes, both want the main gamer demographic but people tend to stick to certain genres. So it's not really the same audience. Xbox focuses on the FPS genre mainly. Playstation is more about rpg's or all over the place type of games.

PS gamers: All rounders ( Average amount of first party games and average amount of third party games in terms of how much they play)
Xbox gamers: Shooters ( COD and their beloved Halo )
Real Nintendo gamers: Mainly only first party games.

This seems about right. I'd add on PS gamers are more likely to be into Japanese games (and now, indies). I'm guessing there's a bit more balance between the kid : adult ratio on PS compared to the other two (though I imagine there's still far more adults); that might not be the case anymore though, as a ton of kids probably got the cheaper next-gen console for Christmas this year.

nintendo gamers love 1st party only(support the 3rd party danmit why we arent getting more 3rd party)
sony gamers love everything 3rd and 1st
microsoft gamers only like shooters and sports games from the looks of it(trust me thats the only platform to have final fantasy bomb)

Destiny was the $500M game made by Bungie. They paid for exclusivity because they wanted the biggest and most hyped game of 2014 to have the biggest effect on PS. The fact that Destiny is an online focused game is a non-sequitur. Replace Destiny with Final Fantasy XV, and the same thing would have happened.

I was anything but a Nintendo player before, I actually genuinely disliked any game made by Nintendo. Now I love them so I think we change a bit over time. Harder to say what defines a certain player though.
