I'd love to see them to go back to the Gameboy brand but, as some have said, that would only cause them troubles for not being "politically correct" and all that.

Please excuse my bad English.

Feminists and the media would have a field day criticizing Nintendo for picking such a gender-specific name, and rightfully so. We're beyond the whole "video games are for boys" marketing phase, so going back to Game Boy just seems like a strange idea.

These are crazy times we live in so you may have a point.Maybe a game girl launching alongside would do the trick?;)

Rightfully so?  God, I hate how PC this world has gotten.  It's like the feminazis and their white knight supporters are winning, and that's not a good thing.  I never had a Gameboy, but you you know who did?  Two friends that lived on my street, both of who just so happened to be girls.  You see kids don't give a fuck about that feminist shit, they buy (ask their parents to buy) whatever appeals to them.  Only adults who are pushing an agenda care.  I am proud to say that it seems a vocal majority of gamers don't care about it, either, and are trying to defend one of the few bastions where that shit hasn't taken over.  I hope we keep winning.

I think it should return.  I think kids are going to be attracted to whatever has Nintendo games on it.  However, bringing back the Gameboy brand would definitely strike the nostalgia bone in older gamers.  This could lead to larger sales.  And God knows, Nintendo can't withstand their handheld gaming dying to mobile phones.

That's great that 2 girls you knew owned a Game Boy, but that doesn't really change the fact that video game marketing back then was solely focused on young boys. The "Game Boy" brand is a throwback to that era, and I just don't see the point of using it when gaming demographics and attitudes toward gender have shifted so much. Besides, the DS brand at this point is actually more successful than Game Boy, so its not like Nintendo would be gaining anything from switching back. Continuing with the DS brand or dropping it and coming up with something else just makes the most sense to me.

I believe that despite the gender issues the brand is still quite strong. They could use it in commercials at least or in some sort of merchandise.

DS still has potential. I don't think it would be called 3DS 2, though, it would son very weird. Maybe the next console could be named HDS or something of the sort, since I think that could be more appropiate but stilll it doesn't sound good enough IMO, so I think it will be interesting to see what will Nintendo pull for the 9th gen.

I voted yes, but then I thought that it's not a branding title that really describes what the product is. Best thing for any future hand held or any games console is for the platform holder to pick a name that really describes what the product does.

Nintendo should use some variation on Entertainment System like Mobile Entertainment System.
After the SNES they should have just released the SNES 2.
Especially if the last product was incredibly popular in it's time.

She can already smell all the Patreon/Kickstarter money that dumb feminazis would donate to her after claiming muh soggy knee on the Game Boy brand...

Great post.  I am absoluetly for equal treatment, when it's actually equal and not for some contrived abritrary bullshit.  Kids do not care about that crap in the least and would be enraged and confused if a parent didn't buy them a Gameboy because of feminist beliefs.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Take the Vita, and remix the design a bit, and call it a Super Game Boy Advance!

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The name doesn't matter. It's always been about the games. If the support is there and the games are unique, they could call it the GameHitler.
