Yet again speculation based off of two examples shown from a different series. This is only reason to believe in the eyes of someone who wants to believe.

It's speculation based off of compitent musicianship and sound design. I brought up those examples to prove that XCX is in the hand of a compitant musician. I don't "want to believe" he's a compitant musician with compitant sound design, he is. Short of him trying to sabatoge the game with poor sound design, there's no reason not to assume this will be different.

He is a competent composer and musician. No argument there. Whether or not you feel how this piece is used works effectively or not is your opinion.

Calling him a compitant musician is also an opinion. What of it? Whether it's used compitantly or not is an opinion coming from an area of serious expertise on the subject. Saying that Other M has a poorly written story is also an opinion, but coming from someone educated in writing, it holds more weight. I have that education in music. You're not going to see a composer like that making such sloppy application of his music. You don't just write two minutes of build up like that for no reason. When it's applied in real time and in full, the way it was intended when he wrote it, it will be used the same way his other songs of the same ilk were used, because that's why they're written that way in the first place.

First of all, Monolith Soft is NOT Square Enix anymore. Second of all, the company is split into two. In 2011 they created the Kyoto Software Development Studio which had at least 30 developers in 2013. This studio co-develops games with Nintendo EAD. So at best there are 93 developers working on Xenoblade Chronicles X (and it's unlikely that this number never changed during the 4 year development cycle). Not every employee is a software engineer for that matter! Not by a longshot!

Take this for example:

"Article ends with a call for job applications for 3D CG designers, effect designers, and motion designers.
-The absolute minimum monthly salary for an experienced worker is 185,000 yen (US$1,837), up for negotiation based on experience and skills. There's also 2 annual bonuses, an annual wage rise, health insurance, and up to ~US$500 support for work related transport costs on top of the salary."

"Staff has a high proportion of women, many staff in their late-20s"

Nintendo would never allow for development costs so high. They are unwilling to make a standalone Fire Emblem game because they predicted it would need to sell 700.000 copies on the Wii U in order to be profitable. That's why they decided to make a crossover with Shin Megami Tensei (to split development costs and to broaden the audience).

The development cycle for this game is unusually long however, which makes me wonder why.

Thanks!

Good info.

Do you happen to know if Monolith have other sources of income? After all it has been a few years since their last released game (except for some development co-operation for Nintendo titles).

Nintendo funds them completely. They are the same company, so I believe it would be the same as any of the EAD studios.
