Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Give me ONE reason Nintendo shouldn't go 3rd party.

I guess for the same reason Sony didn't on the 7th gen, and the same MS didn't in the 6th gen, and Sega the 5th. Do I know it? Of course not.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yep, I just want one reason that Nintendo going 3rd party would not benefit the entire industry. Think about it, more people get to enjoy great games, Nintendo's developers don't have to be stuck working on weaker hardware, they don't have to rack their brains to figure what to do with the gamepad, they can have a better online infrastructure, Nintendo themselves get to make more money because they're not making losses from the WiiU anymore. I mean let's face it, people buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. I honestly don't think Nintendo makes very good hardware. Most of their systems feel kind of cheap.

The hard truth is that without 3rd party support Nintendo can't compete in the console space anymore, and I don't see them getting publishers back on board. Some will label me a Nintendo hater, but that isn't entirely true. I just don't see any logical reason Nintendo going 3rd party wouldn't benefit everyone.

Thoughts?

That first sentence is why this whole argument is stupid and this thread should be locked. This isn't socialism, and Nintendo doesn't owe it to you or anyone to go third party and "benefit the entire industry." If that were the case, Sony should have went third party after two to three years of being down in the dumps with the PS3.

Also, Nintendo is no longer losing money on the WIi U. If you're saying it should go 3P based on that, then again, Sony should have gone third party after the PS3 and MS should have gone third party from... the very beginning, because its Xbox brand hasn't made it a penny, ever.

I'm not labeling you a Nintendo hater, by the way. I just think you should spend more than five seconds meditating on that thought that comes to your head before making a thread on it.

I never said Nintendo owes anyone... and Sony going 3rd party in the early PS3 days would have been a terrible idea because they didn't have a great lineup of IPs back then. Personally I see the future as one unified console with everyone developing on it. Everyone will just make games. But I think Nintendo should be the first to drop out because they can't compete in the space anymore.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Better console, online infrastructure, and 3rd party.

Because Sony's online infrastructure is soo good XD

Because they both have successful next gen consoles.

So? Nintendo did great last time and Sony lost a lot of money then. A lot can change over a generation.

The Wii was lightning in a bottle, I don't think it can be repeated.

Why would Nintendo start making games for the PSV???

Keeping the lightning is wat counts. Sony and Microsoft can F* it up just as quickly. And Nintendo is still profitable, they'll stick around. And their online is free ^^

Also, if you're concerned about what benefits the industry, why would you want less competition, especially from the one publisher and console manufacturer that is not afraid to be a Fruit Loop in an industry full of Cheerios? Why would you want to give more leverage to the firm that wanted to put DRM on everything, make used discs useless and force HAL 9000 into your living room just to play games? You think that's "healthy" for the industry?

Nintendo has a Successful next gen Handheld, why if to leave HC (as your op suggest) not gofull out on the next HH instead with Nintendo's Software? That would be huge as all the focus would be on it instead of being split.

because it pisses poor people off who can't afford more than one console. I need them tears to keep me alive.

You said to give you a reaosn Nintendo shouldn't go third party, then stated your reasons why it should, with the first sentence being one of them. That's implying that Nintendo should stop thinking of its own firm and do what you personally think is best for everyone else. That's like saying a wealthy old tycoon should drop his investments and go get a job as a school counselor  because it would benefit the community. That's reasoning from La La Land.
