Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Give me ONE reason Nintendo shouldn't go 3rd party.

Yep, I just want one reason that Nintendo going 3rd party would not benefit the entire industry. Think about it, more people get to enjoy great games, Nintendo's developers don't have to be stuck working on weaker hardware, they don't have to rack their brains to figure what to do with the gamepad, they can have a better online infrastructure, Nintendo themselves get to make more money because they're not making losses from the WiiU anymore. I mean let's face it, people buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. I honestly don't think Nintendo makes very good hardware. Most of their systems feel kind of cheap.

The hard truth is that without 3rd party support Nintendo can't compete in the console space anymore, and I don't see them getting publishers back on board. Some will label me a Nintendo hater, but that isn't entirely true. I just don't see any logical reason Nintendo going 3rd party wouldn't benefit everyone.

Thoughts?

Give me one good reason Sony and Microsoft shouldn't go third party?

If they go third party they will be pressured to keep to the same deadlines that are causing current third party developers to release broken and unfinished games. Nintendo works fine on their own hardware and take their time to put out games that don't require patches day 1 to keep them operational. I don't think that would continue if they went 3rd party.

Look at whats happened to SEGA. Plenty of unused IPs that people loved that will never see the light of day again because they wouldn't make enough profit.
Nintendo would become a Zelda, Mario, Pokemon company as it wouldn't be finacialy viable to make games of lower selling franchises that currently make small profit but most importantly bolster the hardwares library making it more desirable.

Because they both have successful next gen consoles.

Because being a first party developer isn't the noose you make it out to be, judging by the shit ton of Wii money they're still sitting on and how they're still profitable even with the WiiU's low sales.

Nintendo's situation isn't nearly bad enough for them to consider such a drastic move yet.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

Agreed with OP. People will say, "Their quality of game development would go down, look what happened to SEGA." how would anyone know that unless the situation occured!

Being able to play nintendo games without the hardware would be great.

Because they have a successful handheld and their home console gives them money too?

I never said they should leave the handheld business. Just consoles.

It's better for the industry if Nintendo keeps making their on hardware, and I'll give you THE best reason ever:

If Nintendo goes 3rd party, no one else will be able to sell any more games! The industry would crash! Don't believe me? Why do you think only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo consoles? Because they are so much more superior. Imagine if Activision and EA had to compete with Nintendo on EVERY hardware. Disaster would follow! Nintendo would dominate! Not even Sony's or MSs 1st party games would sell any more. Both companies would stop making consoles, because they wouldn't make enough money from them, which would force Nintendo to going BACK to make consoles. Thus Nintendo would be the ONLY console maker left in business.

Do you see NOW why Nintendo must never be allowed to go 3rd party?
