Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Destiny not 1080p on xbox one?

I own Destiny on both ps4 and x1.  I play with 2 groups of different friends who own different consoles. This morning I just realized that I don't think the x1 destiny is running at 1080p.

For the most part I am a pc gamer before consoles.   Hud size changes when the resolution changes on alot of pc games.  This is how I first figured out it wasn't running 1080p because the hud sizes of both consoles seemed different.  So I decided to go back and forth on my x1 and ps4.  There is a big difference in texture quality and hud size.

My xbox setting is on 1080p.  So i'm wondering if anyone knows what I would have to change to make it 1080p.  I know Destiny is supposed to run at 1080p but it is not.  If it's not in the x1 settings itself.  What can I do so I can play it on 1080p?

HUD changes aside, Destiny on XBONE is 1080p.

Unless there is some kind of HDMI weirdness going on and it's being output at a lesser resolution, you should be getting 1080p. Do you have an older TV that only has one 1080 input? Or a reciever that isn't setup right?

Just goes to show not everyone can tell the difference in resolutions.

X1's Destiny not 1080p? The game's ruined!

It's likely because PS4 is more powerful.

Here's what Bungie probably did: To reach 1080p resolution on X1, they watered down texture quality on X1. Simple as that.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

both are played on same monitor.  I'm not playing on my tv actually since we don't have enough tv for me and my brother to play together.  but it is a 1080p monitor.  Viewsonic vx2452mh.

I didn't notice at first but there is a big difference in clarity of texture and other things.  Never bothered me the first 2 weeks I played. but it started to bother me after signing on to ps4 for the first time in 2 weeks and seeing something was off.  I also have dual monitor just to test it out.  It's pretty much same monitor vx2450mh but also 1080p only difference is one is 2ms the other is 5ms.

Looking at it side by side you can clearly tell there is a difference in texture clarity and hud size.  I switched monitors to try and see if results will be reversed. Nope. The results weren't reversed, same results.

Well just wondering, maybe is this just the way xbox one renders?  This could be the last possible cause if there is no other issue.

It's 1080P.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-destiny-xbox-one-performance-analysis

" a crisp 1080p viewing window. With no performance penalty or pared-back visual settings in sight, first impressions suggest a release that very closely matches its PlayStation 4 counterpart in terms of both looks and performance"

you know what i was about to agree with you then i realized when i saw graphical comparison that other big sites like eurogamer, ign, etc. did.  Their HUD sizes were the same.  On mine the HUD size is clearly different, and if it is anything like pc gaming, this is an indication of different resolution.  I just want to be able to play 1080p.  I do know Destiny is capable of playing on 1080p.  Just want to know how.

Maybe there's some sort of upscaling going on here or the HUD itself is a rendered at a different resolution.
