Forums - Gaming Discussion - What innovations do you want in games?

- Enemies and environments reacting properly to being damaged: Remember Perfect Dark letting you shoot guns out of people's hands? Hell, shoot them in the arm or leg and they actually react the way you'd expect. Why is environmental damage more or less restricted to the (probably now-dead) Red Faction franchise?

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Perfect Dark Zero is to this day the game with the best gun-fighting, with something as basic as aiming requiring great precision and strategy. The only rival I can think of is Metro 2033, which also didn't revolve around auto-aiming and jumping around to avoid getting hit.

Overall, my most desired "innovation" would be gameplay taking the front seat back from the cinematic experience. Recent comments by Miyamoto about how the gamers themselves should be the director explained my standpoint perfectly. Skyrim and the original Halo are two prominent examples, and more games and genres should follow their example.

I honestly don't care about innovations. I feel like expecting them is just setting yourself up for disappointment. I just want great games that run well.
