Forums - Politics Discussion - Why Is the American media so hellbent on pointing fingers. but become silent when it comes to allies?

It doesn't fit the media's liberal agenda of coddling 'minorities'.

Look at the media coverage of the black Muslim who just murdered two NYPD officers. The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, is an afterthought.

Americans are double-standard hypocrites, that's why.

But pointing fingers exclusively at the US is unfair, for the same can be said about many countries, especially western countries. The USA is just the most obvious example due to its huge influence.

In his well-known book "clash of civilizations", Samuel Huntington states that hypocrisy and double standards are ultimately inevitable side-effects of the west's "universalism":

"Hypocrisy, double standards, and "but nots" are the price of universalist pretensions. Democracy is promoted, but not if it brings Islamic fundamentalists to power; nonproliferation is preached for Iran and Iraq, but not for Israel; free trade is the elixir of economic growth, but not for agriculture; human rights are an issue for China, but not with Saudi Arabia; aggression against oil-owning Kuwaitis is massively repulsed, but not against non-oil-owning Bosnians. Double standards in practice are the unavoidable price of universal standards of principle."

the one on the top will always be hated, there's is nothing you do against it but the very short sighted politicts during the bush areas made it even worse. it will take quite a while to change this back to a normal level.

It is Europe and Asia that benefit from the oil America secures in the Middle East. If the U.S weren't in the Middle East besides countries like the Scandinavian ones and Russia, your gas prices would sky-rocket even higher than the ridiculous price they already are. Having said that the cronyism that leads the war, and the reason why the U.S wants war is because there is money to be made in the industrial-military complex industry. You have government contractors who make billions from making weapons for the U.S military. If war ended, that leeching "industry" also ends and that is not a thing these people want.

Fear...fear and hate. They want foreigners to fear them and they want Americans to fear the unknown, I.e every other country. Americans hunt and kill a lot but in reality, I have never seen people so scared of every thing. Anything bad that happens in the US, people stick on it forever. Most of the people I know are on medication of some kind here, just to cope with their fears created by the media.

Further, if they were to like foreign countries, the citizens might see that the U.S. isn't really the best at anything except blowing shit up. Overall the U.S. ranks well in every way which is amazing, but many smaller nations are much nicer places to live, but are tiny and can't blow shit up. It's a case of Sticking to what your best at? So they make their citizens think everywhere else is the 3rd world, (most only vacation to Mexico), and this makes them feel lucky to have what they have. The U.S. though, overall is a nice place with nice people. It isn't any different than adding 50 switzerlands, nor ways or Ireland's together and having them United. They would behave the same.

So true, and it's funny that people would even vacation in Mexico, that country is borderline a failed state.

I altered my comment to show that I don't have anything against the U.S. But my comment sounded a bit biased so I made it reflect my real feelings. Give it a read. In reality, it is what it is. And seriously, I'm not sure when people are going to learn that the EU and U.s have the same power in every way, and without them, the world would be a really depressing shit hole.

What is islamism?

It's where people like to slam things really hard. It's a phobia of not slamming things really hard to be more precise. Or is that islamaphoia?

Yeah, it's certainly not the correct name for the religion. Haters love to use it, which says enough about any other "argument" they try to make.
