Well, its true. But, people didnt seem to like the focus on exploration in it anymore so they turned it into another 3rd person shooter.

Tomb raider still looks pretty free as far as movement goes but it does look like they've added some interactive sequences ...
The only reason why Tomb Raider's environment traversal looked more complex in the past was because the past games had more focus on puzzles rather than shooting.
I think the current Tomb Raider blows it's past counterparts easily in almost every department so copying Uncharted more is porbably the best way to go about it ...
FWIW, I hate both Tomb Raider and Uncharted along with a lot of other cover based third person shooters ...

Exactly.
Regarding the evolution of Lara, one of the problems I had with her is that she's never been likeable as a character, the last game was their first real attempt to give her character however in the end she still has the personality of cold day old porridge.
Those who are gaming for a long time will know tomb raider was coping prince of Persia for a long time. Angel of darkness was a copycat of prince of Persia warrior within (gameplay wise). Now tomb raider is coping uncharted. It has a long history to copy popular games. It shouldn't be a surprise.
Man watching the original trilogy makes me want them to make it similar to them again =(
I loved the reboot but damn do the originals look so much more interesting.

Yeah it bought into the 3d realm what pitfall and Prince of Persia were doing with platforming. Pitfall was a huge inflience as well as Prince of Persia. Prince of Persia is staggeringly similar in platforming and 2D level design back in its heyday.

Guess what inspired Uncharted ...

Anyhow while I still fondly remember the old tr even with the tank controls( tr legends was a very good game though improved controls and gameplay) I just have no desire to play that recent tr. I dont know what it is maybe it just tried to be too realistic or something but it just feels off. |
I'll tell you.
Too much cinematic scenes and lots of scripted hand holding. Tomb raider games used to just throw you in places and let you figure things out for yourself which made you curious of what lies ahead. That to me is a REAL adventure game.uncharted on the other hand is an action game only think you'll be discoveting is the scripted story line because it just tells you what to do and throws as much baddies at you to shoot. It an gears of war are no different.
Old Tomb raider games barely had any human baddies which made you focus on solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles. The new tomb raider you're just massacring waves of endless enemies and your friends are constantly telling you what to do. Ita basically uncharted. even though I like it better than all uncharted games myself because it still has the tombs and puzzles you can solve, although most are optional (ending is terrible too)
Rise of the tomb raider looks to be the same which sucks to be honest. I honestly don't care for games like uncharted.
To me uncharted is an adventure game the same as Resident evil 4 was a horror game. It is not. They're both scripted action third person shooters.

That is like not liking metal gear for it's stealth gameplay or hitman for its hitman gameplay.

I'm not sure what it was, the smoother movement, the more open world, optional areas, platforming segments, or all of the above, but I found myself having a better time with it. And I do love the Uncharted games, so I'm not saying they suck or anything. I really hope Rise of the Tomb Raider doesn't try too hard to be Uncharted. The first one was fine as it is. It doesn't need any more inspiration. We're already getting Uncharted 4. |
Same here, idk what it is about uncharted but it feels very average to me, average story, average gameplay, and great grapchis, that combination for me is a big no, no.
Just my opinion though.
