No console choices?

Every Sunday I sacrifice a virgin to the Great Shigeru Miyamoto and draw Miiverse messages on the Wii U Gamepad in their blood if that counts.

Seems legit. How about blood sacrifices to the gods to bump up a upcoming exclusives metacritic score?

5 goats slain = 90+ meta ;)

Depending on who you ask, God is doing shit on an individual human level ALL the time. Of course when you ask why God isn't doing much to help people starving in Africa for example, out comes some bullshit about free will, so they completely contradict themselves because how is God going to do anything good for you without violating it then?

It comes from the mentality that humans are inherently evil, who sometimes do good things. Thus all of the bad things of the game are brought on by humanity, whereas the good thing outside of the natural course of things.

Doesn't answer everything, but I understand why people think that way.

Open challenge to any theist:

Provide empirical evidence for your position. If you cannot, you fail to establish it. The synthetic/analytic distinction is real and every theistic argument in existence FAILS to be analytic.

Theism is untenable, anyone adhering to this nonsense is irrational on this point.

PS: To any moderators with substandard reading skills, there is no insult here.

Sure, it isn't an insult, but this is not an argument thread. And I don't think the mods would appreciate snarky comments towards them.

Quoting to agree with Mr_No's point.

when I first joined this site I was pretty religious. I have kind of eased out of it. I'd consider myself an atheist now I guess. But I still have sympathy for Christianity. If that makes sense...

The short version. Everything that exists was caused by something. Cause and effect is a scientific axiom. Either existence "began" from an infinite regression of causes, or it began from a cause that had no preceding cause. Choose your poison. I pick the uncaused cause.

If you want more detail I suggest doing your own research, as this thread is not for ongoing theological discussion.

Also what happened to Seece's follow up to the violent video game question?

This is known as the cosmological argument and it doesn't lend one iota of credence for the god argument. It merely attempts to establish what is known as a first cause, which doesn't need to be a being at all. It is an argument I could concede without assessment and it would not further any theistic argument. But alas it is also an untenable argument. The disagreement stems from P2, the Universe began to exist. This is unsubstantiated; for me to simply concede it would be folly.

Alan Guth of the Borde, Guth, Vilenkin theory (big bang cosmology - classical) states "The Universe likely had no beginning."

It is also incoherent to say things like "existence began to exist" - please be more careful with your wording if you wish to present yourself as a competent person.

It is completely fallacious to state that causality is some magical rule that applies to all of existence. All axioms are DESCRIPTIVE and not PROSCRIPTIVE, which is to say that these are not rules the Universe follows, but rules we've made up to describe events/phenomena which occur in the Universe.

Dunno what you mean about violent video games. Link?

I'm agnostic just because i don't know but i also don't like how tainted and corrupt most of the major religious establishments are now. Buddhism is the only one that I sympathise with

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

I'd say I am simply apathetic at this point. In the end I honestly don't feel god's existence, or lack there of, matters at all.
