Forums - Gaming Discussion - Stage of the game (New random opinion piece): The Return of the Wii60?

I'm OneU this generation.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but its the best for me.

The best Japanese games (Nintendo First Party) - the best Western games (especially if you prefer Gears to Uncharted) - the best network/online/media player options from one box - the best retro gaming options/offscreen play on the other.

That's my opinion, and between Bayonetta, Smash, FH2, SunsetO and MCC - the best library of exclusives this Christmas - I'm pretty happy with my choice.

The problem this gen is no matter how much nostalgia the xbox has from N64 days I cannot get myself to like the console.

Killer Instinct for example - not a fan of it being download only and to top it off in part. Even the grate Halo franchise, why should I have to download 20GBs of the game that should have been on the retail disc?

Microsoft has really fucked up and pissed of gamers like me who want nothing to do with DLC apart form minor updates ti fix bugs, not like AC Unity 40gb fix REALLY?

So for me those games I loved on my N64 and xbox and xbox 360 are automatically ruined and not worth a buy again.

Don't forget that Sony also stole a lot of franchises from Nintendo, be it 3rd party ones. They still to this day exist on the Sony platform. ATM Sony has the best balanced games across multiple genres.

Nintendo is just a Nintendo box now, so its a must purchase if you want to play their games. I just hope next gen they do not become like the competition with all this digital crap. Hell I want Nintendo to drop discs all together and go back to solid state memory were the same file lives with the game and can be taken to a friends house and played like the old days.

So from my perspective at the moment the best combo is PS4 and Wii U.

Next gen I will probably quit gaming if all this digital crap and huge DLC packages take over.

You do know you dont have to buy the DLC right? Its optional.

is it optional for Halo MC? Or it is pivatal to the completness of the Game?

I am not talking about this gen but next gen if things keep getting worst and worst every game will be a microtransaction where you purchasing each level to play and then you have to download it. I can't wait for a retail game to be jsut the title screen and menu options to purchase each one.

Ps4+WiiU. Most 'exclusive' games on the bone are also on PC.

True, but I was alluding to the fact that together with their combined offerings it reminded me of the N64. Microsoft still has the top shooter on any console (which during the N64 vs PS era was Goldeneye) and has Killer Instinct (which used to be exclusive to Nintendo) and Nintendo has all of their IP's. If Rare brings back any old Rare hits it will continue what I am talking about.

Yep..in the beginning of the generation MS always has a lot of exclusive third party titles and Nintendo has their fleet of first party. Sony lags until the second year and thats when MS wont be able to catch up, but an MSU combo (as you called it) is strong enough to weather the storm.
