In my city in North America, I've seen two Best Buy's with AT LEAST 75 PS4 bundles each just sitting there(I stopped counting after 50). One of the sales guy's said they were expecting more stock before Christmas just in case.
Another 4 gaming stores(2 general mall game stores, 2 EB Games) have so much stock, that two of them are using PS4's as tables to raise the height of other things like addons and games off the floor. I asked the manager of one of the EB games to see how many PS4's she had but she wouldn't show me. She did say that their stock was "significant" and doubted there would be any problems stocking all the way to the post Christmas sales.(I asked her what their sale would be but she wouldn't say...boourns as I do love me a good sale.)
Sorry but PS4 this season? They WAAAY overproduced for NA and that is going to kill them downstream with what is going to be a load of extra stock past christmas.
I'm not sure what others are seeing but there's no way Sony thought there would be this many after Black Friday.
To be fair, there were ton's of XB1's left as well but there were way less than half the stock of PS4 and they were selling significantly better by the sales people's comments. The sales people all seemed generally surprised that XB1 did as well as it did for BF as they all thought that the PS4 was a better thing all around(almost every store's sales people were pro Sony which makes me wonder why). I also used the old tried and trued method of telling really recent sales which is the "there's three missing from that perfect stack of twelve and there's none missing from THAT perfect stack of twelve" way of telling. NPD would do well to use my way to tell what's moving quicker daily.
I should say that it saddens me that I cannot do my usual Christmas "buy 10, sell them on ebay at a profit and the 11th is free for me" deal with any of the consoles as it seems every company thought they'd sell 2 million in just NA for Black Friday. Seems kind of Bah Humbuggish. :(
I do have to add this on to the bottom because it makes me wonder but do you think the backlash against Sony pulling "The Interview"(along with the major theatre's help but still it looks like Sony did it) is going to affect their brand? Not just consoles but their other markets. I know i'm pretty PO'd with them over it and although I'm confortabily using my Sony products, the whole thing puts a bad taste in my mouth.
