True, VGChartz is just too small a sample size. We represent the devoted fans, not the  mainstream consumer.

Sites like IGN, Gamespot, Gamefaqs, etc are not as specialized as VGChartz, they're quite a different environment too; much laxer moderation, more trolling.

Because Nintendo fans are generally the most persecuted fanbase, as it's "cool" to hate on Nintendo. This site is one of the few where Nintendo can even be discussed without it being flooded with comments of "hurrdurr making the same rehashed games for 30 years you must be 5 years old to like their games hurrdurr".

FFVI

7 is just mainly looked at fondly because it got so many people on the series and RPGs but those who know better see the story was kinda crap. Cloud is kinda a meh character. Was not even the the best FF game on PS1. Areis death not even the one that matters in the series or PS1 (PS1 it's in Legend of Dragoon) VI is as much the masterpiece in story and diverse characters it was then as it is now.

FF7 is still relevant even in todays gaming. I mean look, SE is re-releasing the game on PS4.        Please look forward to it. ™

Because SE hasn't rereleased FFVI, lol.

Even in 1997 FFVII was a generic game in terns if character and story. The only thing it had going for it was graphics which was fine in 1997 but has aged terribly.

FFVI on the other hand broke grounds in characters and storytelling while still holding up today as a beautiful looking game.

Nostalgia is a fantastic thing but it does a cloud judgment.  Have someone that has never played FFVI or VII play both today and I promise you they will hate VII.  VI, on the other hand, will be a much more intesting story.

Just because their the most persecuted doesn't mean that their not as guilty as the other parties for comments like those ... It's like bubblegamer said, selective observation ... 

If anything it's the xbox fanbase that's the most persecuted of all since those guys aren't able to go past xbox specific sites without gaining a lot of scrutiny and proportionally speaking in terms of internet community/customer base ratio it is the Nintendo fanbase that tops everybody ...

After all, the Nintendo community on IGN isn't the second largest for nothing ...
