Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony's Missteps In North America

Not enough GTA V / TLOU Bundle: This bundle was extremely popular : 340k !!!!!! in less than 4 days , it ran out of stock pretty quick , somy should have provided more to the market

LBP lack of bundling and bad timing release : IMO after seeing the sales , I admit LBP didn't sell well , it should have been delayed a month or 2 , for Sumo to iron out the bugs , maybe add an 1 or 2 to the story mode , and better marketeD , LBP was pretty much sent out to die in this holiday period

They can't afford a price cut as they need to make profit unlike MS

I don't think LBP franchise has a future. Sony struggles with keeping a lot of their long standing franchises alive.

GoW and Uncharted seem the exception, although Uncharted really isn't that old. And GoW: Ascension wasn't that great nor did it sell that well.

I thought it was reported that GTAV/Last of Us bundle was going to be back in stock, at least on Amazon, today, but that doesn't seem to have happened yet.

And I think they could cut the price if they really wanted to, they would more than make up the difference elsewhere. But they would rather be second for a few months and make more profit than hastily slash $50 off the entry price just to win an NPD month that 1% of the gaming community ever hear about

Gran Turismo is still doing pretty well.

Sony seem more keen to develop new IPs and not force their devs to continue making games from the same franchises again and again.

Yet they made a new LBP and are making a new Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank (reboot/re-imagining from what I heard?), GoW and Gran Turismo.

And you're right, Gran Turismo has proven to be a stayer. I forgot about it because I hate racing games. :D

I wonder if some of that shortage is fabricated.

Was about to say the same thing, they make new IP sure, but they milk their proven franchises like anyone else.

A new Uncharted that appears to be the last, given it's subtitle. Sony could make Naughty Dog continue the franchis until it is run into the ground, but it doesn't look like they are.

And when I say that Sony don't force their devs to make the same games, that doens't mean the studios don't want to continue the series themselves.  The main guys at Polyphony are complete car nuts and probably coulnd't make another genre of game if Sony asked them to.

However, LBP may or may not have legs, and Sony haven't handled that game's transistion to a new generation very well

If Sony executives want a sequel, they'll get their sequel.

Now what I want to see is a new Crash Bandicoot game by Naughty Dog. What happened to that franchise is one of gaming's biggest crimes (alongside Banjo-Kazooie and Conker).
