Forums - Sony Discussion - Street Fighter V 20% Complete

Love it or hate it, Street Fighter V is coming, but there’s definitely some room for your opinion to change between now and the game’s release, according to some new details released in this week’s issue of Famitsu.

During an interview with Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono, it was relayed that the upcoming title is currently only 20% of the way through development. While not all that surprising (especially with the Work in progress gameplay footage attached to the bottom of the gameplay trailers), it does give a good point of reference for fans to keep in mind during discussions of early footage.

A concrete release date has yet to be confirmed, but a recent Amazon listing possibly revealed Street Fighter V as an early 2016 title.

We are in the process of translating Famitsu’s full talk with Ono, so stay tuned for more details

Well it seems capcom did need the sony money to make this game

Well they did say 2018 last year.

20% means nothing. I'd guess the majority of the work in a fighting game is making the characters/animation and effects etc. The main gameplay is already done, as they can even show it off, just that main gameplay includes 1 arena and 2 characters. Need another 20 yet.

Hmm, pie.

Didn't know it took that much time to polish up SFIV...

I'm assuming that means the copy process from the PS3 disc to the PS4 disc is 20% finished. Should be at least at 23% now!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

20% of the full game or just 20% of the 50%-version they are going to release?

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

still a long way to go, but it doesnt surprise me since this game was supposed to happen on 2018 its now thanks to the partial funding of Sony that we can get the game earlier than that.

Lol!  I was going to post something similar.  I feel like SFIV (still probably my favorite 7th gen game) was only 50% of the game it would eventually become.  By the time we got Ultra, there were tons of characters, outifts, moves, etc. that were absent from the original release.  If I calculate how much money I've spent on that franchise during the 7th gen, I would probably cry myself to sleep.
