and I doubt a big publisher is going to give them much money at this point...

Beyond 2 Souls performed decently as far they're concerned ...

Well maybe the sales paid for the salaries of Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe...

They do alot of research and tech demos. I dont think Sony or any other publisher are interested in investing much in them right now.

Research and development is huge for any tech company.   That's like saying Sony isn't interested in the ICE team, housed in none other than Naughty Dog who's core development tools contribute to nearly all of Sonys first party studios.  Besides, isn't Quantic Dreams games like.... way the fuck different? I could see potential in letting them mess around.  Could strike gold actually

Hmmm...they're working with Sony right now (which makes sense, given their last two games were successes). The January news is obviously involving more work with them.

Yes, a remaster of Beyond: Two Souls and maybe Heavy Rain... That wont take much money, time or people...

They did that twice already in a succession ...

If that were all that's happening, then sure. But, with the Dark Sorcerer already showing that they're thinking ahead, as I said, they've been working with them for sometime (after Beyond's release). No substantial reason to think otherwise.

If it was something big, then "Some great news coming in january" probably wouldnt be the words they use...

Critically yes but not commercially. As of right now they're pioneering their own genre it seems like and frankly, the titles had pretty soft launches.  I don't know a single person who's even heard of either titles.

Edit- And I did happen to look up sales. But as a first party studio in 2014/2015, I'd consider striking gold as selling 4 million+ on a single platform.

I never played Heavy Rain so I'd be interested in that.

Beyond is one of the worst games I ever played.

Which doesn't aid your point at all, since you assume that Sony isn't working them right now. In fact, what is that even based on?

I never said Sony isnt working with them. Im just saying that funding Quantic Dream is probably not a big priority for Sony or any other publisher right now...

Fixed that. Sony is the only publisher funding their projects.

Now to the point, and as I asked, what is that viewpoint based on?

The sales of Beyond: Two Souls? That game couldnt have been cheap to make and with Until Dawn coming out, Im not sure what QD can add to the PS4 to make people buy it at this point.

I would say they did strike gold commercially ...

Quantic dream pretty much has a monoploy on the interactive drama genre and that's a pretty important differentiation factor to guarantee sales past 1+ million providing ofcourse most things held equally ...
