Forums - Movies & TV - Sony Pulls "The Interview" From All Theaters

I think the theatres were remembering the Aurora Colorado shootings. As far as the FBI and other agencies can tell, the terroristic threats made by the Guardians of Peace are without substance, but nobody wants their theatre to be the one with a mass shooting or bombing happen.

Doesn't matter, the parent company is still Japanese.  Even still, the US Government didn't do shit for the PSN hack, and the most that happened 'legally' was the EU Fined them 250K pounds.  The US Government would also run into a conservative buzzsaw, if they tried forcing 3rd party oversight onto a private business, citing 'slippery slope'.

The PSN hack wasnt a terror threat. The US government did as much as they should do, which was assist but not act.

This is a terror threat. A company in United states, so just as much an American company, or branch, creating a product which terrorists are trying to suppress. Stands against every code of freedom we free-folk have worked hard for.

Yeah americans can chant US-USA-US-USA on and on when they kill bin laden, and make a movie out of it, but when a real threat comes, fuck our freedom.

Horse shit, where was the code of freedom when 99.9% of American journalists, and the US Government condemned the Danish Muhammad cartoons?  Nowhere to be found.  We're free, as long as it suits our purposes, and we're more than happy to leave allies pissing in the wind.

Beyond that, I didn't see the US government attempting to shelter Sony from any damages here, nor did I see the US Government mobilizing the military or police to protect theaters.

Ah, so you're another one that believes Sony santa monica and naughty dog are japanese too.

What an odd community we have here.

They're currently owned by a Japanese company, yes.  I challenge you to prove otherwise.

Proving otherwise doesn't make a difference. According to US LAW Sony Pictures Entertainment is an American company protected by the US Government. Playstation Network is part of Sony Computer Entertainment, which is NOT a US company, but a foreign multinational.

Even the media itself is saying this is a blow to American media and freedom of speech.
Sony kowtowing to the attack is a reflection of US media. America couldn't do anything to protect its own people from further damage. The movie was cancelled to protect US citizens. This is a reflection on America. It doesn't matter who the parent company is.

you know what, sony or anonimous of whatever should leak it on the web, that way, they would be surved rigth and everyone would see the movie for free on the web.

Torrent for the freedom of comedie !

It is indeed sad for freedom of speech but i can relate to why they pulled it. Imagine the hate from media they would get if terrorism actually came. In a way i think we should consider sony as being good of putting safety before money. Thats more than what british petrolium would have done at least

Yeah, actually it does make a difference.  And you're incorrect, according to US Law, Sony Pictures Entertainment is an American subsidiary of a Japanese company.

And no offense, but who cares what the American media says?  They've proven they're more than willing to incorrectly report, or outright lie, in order to create firestorms, and considering they're under no legal obligation to tell the truth to their viewers, it's a miracle anyone actually takes them at face value.  Well, not really a miracle, we just have a shitload of idiots in America.

it's baffling how you can just assume you're right and everyone is stupid, when you are absolutely wrong.

There is literally nothing incorrect in:

"Proving otherwise doesn't make a difference. According to US LAW Sony Pictures Entertainment is an American company protected by the US Government. Playstation Network is part of Sony Computer Entertainment, which is NOT a US company, but a foreign multinational."

It is 100% factual.  End of story. Case closed. American liberties were trampled on here. American company, American actors, American workers, American movie. Owned by a multinational holding company based in Japan.

That is it. There is NO argument here. At all! Even a little bit. You are wrong, and that is that. Period.

Where does it end? Some punk ass bitches hate spider man so they threaten theaters when the third one comes out and then Sony loses money on that as well?
