Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto Confirms There Will Be Plenty To Do In Zelda Wii U Overworld

we first started by saying if we can take an entire world the size of the world from Twilight Princess, and make that the size of one of the areas in the game. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Well, he's not going to say there's nothing to do in his game now would he?

Lot's of bushes to cut and rupies that don't fit in your tiny satchel to collect.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

That Twilight Princess comment has me so hyped. I'm pretty sure that's the largest overworld in Zelda history, so to have that be the size of one area in the game? And for there to be actual things to do (unlike TP)? I'm speechless.

He's not saying that there's a lot to do, he's saying that the way the game is designed could allow the players to do many things; so he's just washing his hands.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

No, he pretty much would have said other thing, a more fetched statement.

What we’re trying to do is design it in a way where you don’t have to play it for a super long time, but more matched to today’s lifestyle where you can think for a little bit, and say “maybe I just want to play for a little bit today and do this one thing.” and get that thing done, then take a break.

iOS Zelda confirmed.

I think that award technically goes to The Wind Waker... or maybe Skyward Sword if we count the ground areas as part of the overworld. But I'm being a bit annoying here, obviously Twilight Princess has by far the biggest traditional overworld in the franchise.

On the topic of Wind Waker, I'll never understand people who complained about the sea yet loved TP's gigantic field. At least the sea was charming to look at and the islands were distributed fairly evenly. Though now I'm being a bit annoying. Haven't played SS yet, but I've heard some...things about it. Lol.

And here we go... it wouldn't be a normal day if there weren't a few skeptical naysayers around.

Look, if he said they're designing the game to be able to be played on short sessions where the player will just do a little something each time, they couldn't make a huge empty world that only has something of importance every 5 minutes on a horse.

I'm not being skeptical. I made an entire thread talking about how I think this game's world will be filled with things to do. All we're saying is that Miyamoto wouldn't come out and say "well the world is pretty dead" if that weren't the case. He definitely didn't with Twilight Princess.
