I agree. Price cut and a real Amiibo game, alongside Zelda, could see it up YOY next holiday. Overall for the year tho I'm not sure.


Yeah, this year had 2 biggest HC IP but it only had DK+Captain Toad for 1st party games. Also HW (did pretty good for wat it is) and bayo2 but thats nothing.

Next year has alot of medium size wiiu games, i made a list. As of right now 2015>2014 for wiiu games. 

Splatoon/Kirby/XCX/ZeldaU/Mario Maker/Yoshi Wolly World/Star Fox. And thats whats known. As there always is that unknown title :0

Add that with price drop, and hopefully the Nintendo Holiday push that didn't get crap this year. and i thinkits possible 2015>2014. Im not saying its going to do gangbusters, just up YoY. Also that amiibo game needs to happen!

actually I believe mario maker will be a bigger hardware pusher than mario kart 8 imo

I thought a lot of Mario Kart, and to a lesser extent Smash Bros, fans were waiting for these titles to arrive this year and were either waiting to buy it at launch day or during the holiday season when there are better sales. With Wii U sales being down this holiday season, this proposes several hypotheses for Japanese Nintendo gamers:

1. A lot of the Mario Kart or Smash Bro fans already have a Wii U

2. A lot of the Mario Kart or Smash Bros fans don't like the Wii U's current price, bundle, and library of games and are still waiting for better deals.

3. The amount of Mario Kart or Smash bro fans that buy a Nintendo system just for those games have decreased significantly.

edit: Just thought of two more.

4. A lot of the Mario Kart or Smash Bro fans aren't willing to buy a Wii U at all.

5. The amount of Mario Kart or Smash bro fans in general have decreased significantly.

I guess there could be several more, too. Some of these are connected to each other like #1 and #5. Thought it would be more simple X-D

But how? Even if it sells slightly more in the end. This was the year with their 2 best sellers that were bundled no less. Even with a pricecut I can't imagine how it would beat this year. The Wii U has broadened its user base quite a bit this year and scooped up a lot of undecided Nintendo fans. You think the Nintendo fans that didn't jump until now will jump next year because of a slight price cut? Shouldn't saturation start to kick in in full gear next year?

Is there any big IP except of Zelda next year that would entice all of the Nintendo fans that didn't jump yet?


Its more of a release of games + potential price cut that would put it up. Lime i said in my reply to Seece, Tbis year had 2 biggest ips, but it only had 1 semi big game (and 3 other small ones). Next year has 1 huge ip but with about 7-9 games maybe more next year.

18m is a good bet right now, would predict a little lower.

9m end of 2015 (assuming it's up about 200k over next few weeks). 3.5m in 2015 (12.5m), 2.2m in 2016 (14.7m), 1.4m in 2017 (16.1m), 1m thereafter (17m)~
