What was the cause of the high sales in Japan in 2013? As I remember 3D Mario games aren't that popular in Japan and 3D World was the big release last year.

Japan didn't have games bundled in with the Wii U until the Wii Party/NSMB/Wii remote/Karaoke Pass/Optional Wii Fit bundle came out at the end of October.  It didn't cost much more than a base Wii U, so it was a fairly good deal.  3D World also wasn't competing with a recently released 3DS version.

So Wii U peaked already last year? So I guess next year will be even lower than this one? Oh boy.

I wouldn't necessarily say last year is the peak year (or this one if its ahead which i doubt at ths point).

I really think 2015 has a fair shot of being over, it really depends on Nintendo's attitude of expanding the user base of course

Yes.

I agree. Price cut and a real Amiibo game, alongside Zelda, could see it up YOY next holiday. Overall for the year tho I'm not sure.

At least we can conclude that Q4 this year has been a huge disappointment, even if it ends up being minimally up YOY. Last year was considered terrible and people looked towards 2014 for the "saviors" (MK, Smash, Bayonetta etc) but the harsh reality is that they only managed to prevent a big drop YOY instead of increasing the sales in a meaningful way.

Took the coward's way out with unsure myself. I would like it to be up year on year, if only by a little, but even the most conservative predictions often seem to be too much for the wii u.

But how? Even if it sells slightly more in the end. This was the year with their 2 best sellers that were bundled no less. Even with a pricecut I can't imagine how it would beat this year. The Wii U has broadened its user base quite a bit this year and scooped up a lot of undecided Nintendo fans. You think the Nintendo fans that didn't jump until now will jump next year because of a slight price cut? Shouldn't saturation start to kick in in full gear next year?

Is there any big IP except of Zelda next year that would entice all of the Nintendo fans that didn't jump yet?
