So much for DQH being a spinoff no one cares about! Never underestimate DQ! PS4 will be doing great from february onward next year.

i would say never underestimate Dragon Quest on PS console , because thats the only place most mainstream gamer enjoy DQ .

Isnt that Handhelds though? Judging by the numbers of course. (Not saying DQ is not big on Consoles of course)

Well DQ is big on Handled  no doubt about it , but  DQ is introduced by  PS1 especially people for US and European gamers. PS 1 that brought DQ series bigger and better by adding much more sales potential on world wide release.

Last year, same week, Wii U did 72k/74k.

This doesn't bode well for Wii U in Japan.
I wonder what Nintendo will do next year when all japanese games seem to be heading only to PS4.

This is pure specualtion on my part.

Fro mwhat I see Ninty have just decided to play this generation as safe as possible and make back as much money from the Wii U as they can. I really can't see them spending big money securing all these games for the Wii U at this stage. They seem to get them for the 3DS by default as the PSV is so far behind it so maybe they'll settle for that in Japan.

If Sony flex their musscles the PS4 could be a massive succes over there. Resident Evil, DQ11, Monster Hunter, Yokai Watch, Final Fantasy, GTA 6, KIngdom Hearts 3, MGS5, next tales game. And I'm sure you can think of some more. It's not out of the realms of possibility they could secure all of those and they'd sell millions upon millions of extra PS4's in Japan with all those games (many already confirmed). Due to the PS4 success WW they'd also shift plenty of units for each of them (some a lot more than others) outside of Japan.

The other thing is the xbox one doing so bad. The 360 hit the ground running and built up a user base. MS further built on that by doing some big 3rd party deals. I can't see them or the Japan 3rd partys wanting to do something similar. Especially with the momentum for the PS4 starting to pick up in Japan.

So will PS4>Vita Next year? Just notice that Vita had only the first week of the year with really high sales (80k).

Only 3 weeks with over 35k this year which were ^+41k+37k. PS4 with 1 real push managed 65k+. PS4 support is big too next year.

Thoughts?

That's not even in doubt imo. PSV will fall and PS4 rise.

Even in HH Land!!! This number (weekly sales) certainly puts it easier to believe it. I think its still early for guarantees, but ps4 does look like its having most of vita's lineup next year and it has FF+DQ behind it as well.

a handheld without big ip can't beat a home console with big ip

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Look at dat Captain Toad sales. Steady 12-14k per week.

Not sure about how far all those cross gen titles will bring PS4 over there. They havn't worked to well until now.
Guess i'll lean back and see.

My god, that PS4 increase in sales o.O

I hope that it'll have a much greater baseline now that it'll have a much better lineup catered to the Japanese audience next year.

Like Auron says, I'd not only expect PS4 to beat Vita, but by some distance.  It'd be pretty disappointing if not, since it's pretty much the sole focus for Sony going forward (Vita will survive a little longer thanks to third parties, but that's it).

Look at what they did comparatively for their first holidays.  Vita had... two new colours.  PS4 had Dragon Quest bundle and fairly decent marketing push; no comparison.

So vita will fall behind 2013 total number next week

Ok, Will be interesting to see^ Looks like the best battle of next year is 3ds vs ps4 as WiiU is wayyyy off of vita and ps4 wayyyyy ahead of vita :0

PS4 for 2mil next year? 3ds is only going to be slightly over that, unless nintendo does some amazing things with amiibos/cards (N3DS push i mean).

Vita should hit 1mil but barely next year, 2013 might of beens peak, i hope to god wiiu's peak wasnt 2013 >_>

Yeah i had a thread for the holiday 2013 vs 2014. It was up YoY about 200k in Oct but fell off. Tbf Vita had 2 revisions and GE2. Though many thought at least PSN can maybe match it.

PS4 also going to take thunder away from 3ds+vita next year with its line up. Everything going down aside from it YoY. (well unless WiiU surprises us)
