In EU you get a cartridge, and a voucher so you can get a PS3 copy as well.

SCEE seems to be offering better deals for Vita all around. SCEA completely takes a shit on Vita all the time. :/

Why it was so popular when it first came out.....who knows.
But now with the whole Mojang buyout......I can confirm that 100% of sales are coming from people who want to donate to Microsoft so their 2 billion purchase wasn't in vain.
Yup, call all Minecraft sales from here on out a global charity out of pure kindness to help Microsoft.
