Forums - Sales Discussion - Market Share: PS4 vs. XB1 - Dec 6

Interesting thread. The top chart is a little confusing, but it's neat information and I appreciate the work put into it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Great charts, congrats, sir! PS: I love your threads. :p

And guys... "Rest of the World" is subjective/personal. Some could say it is any country outside of US, or any country outside of Japan. It depends on the point of view of the person.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Nice charts and all, but a bit silly...that's not what RoW is, never was, never will be.

In the context of this thread it most certainly is. Only Us, and Uk specified, making everything else ROW.

Seems a natural extension of this gen. Playstation selling well worldwide, Xbox selling well in US and UK.

feels like forever

but PS4 is doing well in those markets too, much better than the PS3

And that's quite interesting information itself. In many ways PS4 being number 1 in these two markets, at the moment, is the story of this generation...well aside from Wii U's absolute fall from grace. PS4 dominance in, well, everwhere else = expected, and given the level of dominance rather boring and uninteresting. Who can be bothered speculating on whether it will be 4:1, 5:1, or 6:1? Meh, it's a lot and that's all we need to know.

The only interesting things happening are in the USA and UK because there is actual competition there, finally. MS is focussing on these markets because they know the survival of Xbox depends on those markets. Before Kinectless came along, and to some extent even before ACU $350 bundle came along, Xb one being the last ever Xbox console was a prospect that people could not easily dismiss. Now however Xb one is sufficiently rehabilitated in USA and UK for Xb oners to have reasonable confidence that Xbox will be around for at least one more generation after this.

i don't think the Xbox or nintendo crowd would find it boring if they were leading in nearly every market, you're not thinking like a fanboy, lol

that $350 deal is insane that is like £225 ,we'd sell 5m plus quickly if bundles were that price over here,i'm not sure MS would have let Xbox end this gen if it had not picked up they clearly mean business, its going to be interesting to see LTD sales of all 3 and how & where they survive this gen

If I had a billion dollars I would find money boring. But I would be happy that I had a billion dollars.

Have any ideas to make it "less" confusing? I'll happily take advice from others :)

I am glad you like them :)

Exactly.

Thanks for explaining it for me :)

It sure is! :D

There is definitley no issue with this thread, Kowen himself has made many threads just like this that paint Sony in a Bad light, he just doesnt like it when it doesn't suit his agenda.

Mind that gap.

Who said?

Usual convention - changing it on whim only brings confusion.

That's the problem, if we all start using RoW arbitrary it will bring chaos into already established convention what RoW is - so let's stick to what it's been assumed to mean for so many years.

And honestly, this US + UK thing, IMO, is quite silly to start with - unless UK miraculously sails off to NA, it is part of Europe.

*I will continue to update this thread every week.

It is pretty incredible, that PS4 (Rest of the World) might "out sell" Xbox One (Total) sometime in 2015.

And, yes some of these Charts were used in another thread, but given the hate and the misplacement of the thread (Microsoft Discussion), I thought, that it would be a good idea to make a new one - under a different name and topic.

I am sorry if anyone felt hurt or attacked by my other thread, I had no intention to offend anyone.

Great thread. If you willing to updated it will be an official market share thread.

Can u put Wii U pie charts and other platform such as 3DS and Vita. or maybe last gen console and handled?

Nice thread!
By just adding "Playstation 4: USA & UK" in the third graph you can get rid of the two others. It would make things shorter and easier to read.
