Forums - Sony Discussion - Is PSN/Playstation North Korea's next target?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know all about the Sony hacks and how NK did them because they were upset over the release of the upcoming movie "The Interview".

So far the hackers have leaked emails and other documents, all in efforts to shame Sony into holding release of the film. So far they've censored it a little, but not really to an effect I think NK will be pleased with.

I don't think NK will stop being mad about "The Interview". They seem to consider this movie an act of war. And the more popular the movie gets, the more pissed off NK gets. Meaning NK probably won't relent in finding new ways to cause trouble for Sony until they censor the movie further or remove it from distribution entirely.

And that means every line of business from which Sony supports itself financially has a target on its back. This most certainly includes PSN/Playstation.

Will we see PSN attacks? Will we have Playstation related leaks? I'm surprised this hasn't already happened.

I for one plan on seeing the movie as soon as I can, but I'm reluctant to put my time and money into PS at this point because some disaster could happen especially in the near future.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

What could be worse than all of that!?

Deleting all footage of the next Spider-Man movie. Oh GOD NO what a terrible thing that would be!

Sony isnt funding a game about killing Kim Jung Un/Il whatever, so I think they are safe.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I didn't even know there were hackers in North Korea.

FINEST Squad help us!

Why would they attack PSN? In any case, they shouldn't be able to do much damage after 2011, except in the form of DDoS attacks. If it comes to that, something like "finest squad" might be of help lol

I doubt it. I still don't believe this was actually North Korea, but a US group that is pretending to be NK for the lulz.
One reason I think so is because of the press releases by Sony and the FBI. It doesn't make sense to actually point at NK...much better to keep it quiet and point somewhere else. It's almost always better to play along than it is to show your cards.

But they are funding a movie.

NK is upset with Sony as an entire organization. If they wanted to hurt them, they'd go after dismantling one of Sony's most successful products, Playstation, in order to hurt Sony's profits.

Under the direct command of the government, most certainly yes.

People mostly out to get confidential military information, or anything else they can use to demand money.

Who knows but the Sony pictures thing alone will make a sizeable dent on Sony's profits, thats for sure. If psn is next, it will be 2011 all over again
