Forums - Nintendo Discussion - nintendo, why do you do this?

you guys, im seriously getting fucking tired of this shit. why is it that every major release for the wii u since mario kart 8 has that fucking bullshit gray text on the spine? im talking about bayonetta 2, super smash bros, captain toad, hyrule warriors, and even new super mario bros is guilty of this shit. im sorry, but i dont want a fucking collection of games that have gray text spines. its so unpleasing to look at when you have a giant stack of them like i do. i currently have like six games that have this bullshit on it, and im fucking tired of it. how hard is it to make a decent looking spine? why is that so hard to do? and why do they insist on contuinally putting out this unimaginative spine art? there is absolutely no reason for this. whoever is in charge of the artwork for these games is an idiot. im sure they took great pleasure in just typing, "captain toad's treasure tracker" with that gray bolded text. yeah, thats a good looking package. i am so.. fucking tired of it. at the end of this generation, i swear to god, 80% of my games are going to look like that and its an injustice. its NOT HARD TO JUST COPY THE REGULAR LOGO FROM THE FRONT OF THE COVER TO THE SPINE!!!

when is this going to stop, guys? seriously? should i just expect my zelda game, my xenoblade, and my mario maker to feature this bullshit gray bolded text on the spine?

I've actually wondered this myself. It's such a small thing but it's a little annoying. I'm confident that Zelda will have something like the other entries, but as for anything else, I have no clue. Hopefully they stop doing this.

I completely agree.

Huh, never really realized the spine of the box cover was such a big deal for people loll. I just use it to pick out the game I want to play, not stare at it my whole life

just wait till these spines overtake your entire collection. then youll look at it and think.. damn, these games have no personality. now, i absolutely love the cover art for the games, but the fact is that when youre displaying your collection, you arent looking at the awesome cover art, youre looking at the spines. if the spines had as much personality as the covers, my wii u collection would look fucking cool, but as it stands, its looks boring and its bullshit.its such a lazy thing for them to do.

if youre the kind of gamer that doesnt give a shit about having the box and instructions, then you wouldnt care, but if you like having a nice looking collection with complete games in good condition, then yes its a big deal. when you put this shit on display, it makes a huge difference. nntendo games are supposed to be about fun, but you dont get that impression about them when the spines are just gray bolded text. it doesnt look fun at all. i want the spines to reflect something about the game, because yes, it is much more pleasing to look at.

I hope you do not have an N64 collection then and if you do I hope you have the boxes  because they are ugly and gray carts with nothing on the sides.

What matters is inside (?)

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

i have a giant n64 collection. about 100 games, theyre all in boxes. so the lack of a cartridge label doesnt affect me at all, but that really is another bullshit thing that they did. why on earth did they think it was a good idea to remove something that is so convenient, i will never understand it. but my 64 games are all in boxes and they look beautiful.
