Forums - Sony Discussion - Bet: PS4 won't sell under 180k any week in 2015

If everything is fine (no war between Japan and China, No water Flood in China that effecting the production, No World War, SONY is not bankrupt etc, etc)

There is a big chance PS4 will sell more then what OP suggest. From the games line up, Exclusive, third parties, Indies and all positive review and hype is almost unbeatable. and also the sales will still increasing based on consumer trend in social media.

Yes it will. On average it will not. but there will be weeks where it falls below 180k for sure.

I think 2015 will be a great year for PS4, but i also think there is a good chance you lose this bet.

Very nice and well presented argument OP. But I will say no. I think the PS4 will definitely have at least one week under 180K, but with the PS4 we can never say "never"... Good luck

Thanks :)

I can see this happening if PS4 exclusives and major multiplats are critically well-recieved and if PS4 gets a $50 price cut. Its existing library also helps.

But if XB1 continues its $350 price with bundles then PS4 will have a tough time mostly due to USA (Damn you USA!).

Definitely, exclusives and price drop is key! :D

This bet has a chance to fail in the first weeks of the year.

Other than Batman AK I can´t see any game pushing console sales.

2014 was the perfect storm for the PS4, in the hardcore eyes. Anything can happens but I think part of the public got a hangover from this year overhyped games.

A price cut is more likely next year though, and with all of Sony's big guns (Uncharted 4, Gran Turismo 7 and God Of War IV) yet to come out they have many games left to push console sales. Also I'm sure multiplatform games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also push many consoles.

I agree.

How much more do you think, 190-200k?

This does classify as a bold prediction indeed. There's no doubt the PS4 will do tremendous in 2015 but I do think it'll get some sub 180k weeks because summer sucks in the video game world.

Signature goes here!

Comparing last gen to this is not the same. PS4 has always been $400. PS3 dropped from $600 to $400 by its first November. A lot more of those people waiting for the $400 price point have already bought in. Unless PS4 gets a price drop(which is certainly possible) I do not see that same %30 growth like year 2 of PS3.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

360: 2007 saw a growth of 15.85 %
PS3: 2008 saw a growth of 28.81 %
Wii: 2008 saw a growth of 46.12 %

This is a trend - it happens every generation.

It will have a good library of games to sale in the slow dry times, sales will always be good. Europe will always be there to prop it up. Early year is stacked nicely, big games every month. It is the PS4 so yahh sales will grow.

I have added YET another picture in the OP.

* Only on Playstation 4 means NOT on Xbox One.

It'll depend on those long summer months, don't know what all they have in the pipeline to fill the doldrums.
