Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Has anyone tried playing Smash with a Pro controller?

I've owned the pro controller for a while now. It's nice, but I prefer the gamepad. I'm not sure the pro is worth the extra money.

It's good, but not as great as the GC controller.

Wrong post. lol

I use it for Smash and basically EVERY other Wii U game that will allow me to. It's a great controller, imo. I'm really happy with it.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I use it :) is good better that the GC controller, all my friends bought one to play, and believe me they were so against changing it, they almost force me to buy a GC adapter, but after a few matches they got use to. In our opinion is better than GC controller, and we don't have to deal with cables anymore.

Better than the GC controller imo

Didn't know so many people liked it. o.o

I guess it's just the conservative competitive community that's clinging to it for dear life.

I was a huge GC controller guy--I even bought a new GC controller despite there being 3 in the house already (one of which was "specifically mine" since you know how us gamers can be about sharing even controllers)--but between the nicer shoulder buttons IMO (for some reason the GC ones got annoying when it came to shielding, maybe due to how much I have to press them down), a slightly more... "modern" feel, the wireless ability + a proper home button and such (so I don't have to grab the GamePad or something when I need to use buttons the GC controller doesn't have), and great battery, I've been using it more and more, it's actually rather nice.

In fact, I sometimes take my GamePad up to my room and bring my Pro Controller and use the GamePad as a screen while I play with the Pro Controller. Since my GC controllers are all wired I can't really use them that way, but my Pro Controller has no problem playing from upstairs despite my Wii U being downstairs. Since it's annoying to constantly switch, I've just been getting used to the Pro Controller. It's different, and I can't really use X/Y for jumping in the same way I did with the GC controller, but I wouldn't say it's bad or impossible to get used to.

And thankfully unlike the GC controller, you don't need expensive/hard-to-find adapters and you can use it for lots of other games, so yeah. I think the choice for most people shouldn't be too hard. =P

Finally an actual argument with reasonings! You've won the thread sir!
