Forums - Sony Discussion - Eurogamer: Reasons Why you might not want to pre-order The Order 1886

Never buy day one, much less preorder. But I'll buy it anyway, how long after release and for how much will depend on how good the game is.

Guys the game is two months away, which is NOT enough time to completely fix the cover system, rethink QTEs or drastically alter stealth AI. Bugs are a hit or miss, maybe that could be fixed. I think these journos (Eurogamer journos at least, screw the rest) are doing most people a favor by giving them an accurate assessment of the product in its current state. Again, expecting all of this to change in just two months is overly optimistic. Call me skeptical but after Unity, The Crew, Halo MCC, Driveclub and LBP3 I don't have faith. CDProjekt Red has delayed their game twice. Rocksteady would rather delay Arkham Knight than release another Arkham Origins, thank God. There's nothing worse than a broken game at launch.

Well, and were is Eurogamer take on all those other games with issues at launch?

Id like this game to do well because its trying to do things differently and I love its atmosphere but I cant just brush aside all the warning signs.

Indeed I like the idea of the setting and atmosphere but with some of these issues so close to launch and the Order still not really grabbing my attention at PSX, I am really not holding my breath. But hey if it turns out to be great then it's a win-win.

Such amazing visuals! It's a real shame it's looking to bo full of QTE's. I can't stand the things!

Someone should send this to Ready at dawn so they can at least know what other people are thinking. Right now it feels like they're still sticking to providing a more cinematic feel instead of having more interactions and options in the game. If you fail to follow what the story wants you to do then game over. That Insta-fail stealth is pretty dumb. Just because the game and story wants you to be stealthy in that part does not mean you have to.

Could it be that all I've seen from the order so far is true? I'm almost ready to make a prediction thread of

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I say let Ready at Dawn do what they want and create what it is they wish to try and create. We can decide afterwards if we as consumers want it.

I don't like this narrative of the media trying to sculpt these games into what they would rather them be.

Some of us like linear games, chock full of QTEs and repetitive combat. That's part of why i love God of War.

Was expecting this to be posted.

Mentioning bugs in a game that is months from completion is ridiculous.

The Order is an easy target it appears. I have never seen Eurogamer tell people not to preorder other games. If the article simply stuck to what they actually played and didn't mention not preordering, it would have been fine, but clearly they are looking for clicks.

Pathetic

Its only 2 months away, that should be fixed by now.

Yea and how many games have bene released with bugs this gen? Halo had bugs, drive club, dragon age, BF4, etc. Every game has bugs and a lot of them are fixed in a day one patch that has become very popular this generation.

Oh... so then I assume you'd congratulate this guy for taking a stand against buggy games and calling them out.  Right?

You know the difference between an unreleased game and a released one. Right?

Right.  And you do know the difference between a preview and a review, right?  And you do realize that bugs in a game two month out are a big warning sign, right?
