Forums - Sony Discussion - Eurogamer: Reasons Why you might not want to pre-order The Order 1886

It's rare to see the media so against a game before it comes out that they make numerous articles/videos about its negative sides.

I'm telling you, after months of being the medias darling you can now definitely make out a movement in the opposing direction in the media in regard to the PS4 and also of course its games.

I saw a video on youtube today from machinima about Uncharted 4 asking, if it will suck and that video had lines like "I like UC 1-3 but this just doesn't excite me, it just looks like more of the same","If you gave me UC 1 Remastered, ir would be the same thing I saw in this demo","It just doesn't feel like they are going all out, giving us something that screams next gen" and "Drakes face in the demo looked like it was rendered on a PS3"

Seriously I'm getting sick of this whole gaming journalist/reviewer hipster circlejerk always bitching and trying to create controversies so people click their shit.

Edit: That is not to say that I think the Order looks perfect, far from it.

I haven't watched, but your list of their complaints seems extremely valid. The amount of salt and butt hurt in the GAF thread is mind blowing. Some even claiming there is some mass media conspiracy against Sony LOL.

The more they show of this game tthe more it appears as if it's the PS4 version of Ryse. 3rd person, repetitive combat, very linear, little to no exploration, QTE's, etc, but also just amazing graphics.

Was expecting this to be posted.

Mentioning bugs in a game that is months from completion is ridiculous.

The Order is an easy target it appears. I have never seen Eurogamer tell people not to preorder other games. If the article simply stuck to what they actually played and didn't mention not preordering, it would have been fine, but clearly they are looking for clicks.

Pathetic

Its only 2 months away, that should be fixed by now.

Yea and how many games have bene released with bugs this gen? Halo had bugs, drive club, dragon age, BF4, etc. Every game has bugs and a lot of them are fixed in a day one patch that has become very popular this generation.

Guys the game is two months away, which is NOT enough time to completely fix the cover system, rethink QTEs or drastically alter stealth AI. Bugs are a hit or miss, maybe that could be fixed. I think these journos (Eurogamer journos at least, screw the rest) are doing most people a favor by giving them an accurate assessment of the product in its current state. Again, expecting all of this to change in just two months is overly optimistic. Call me skeptical but after Unity, The Crew, Halo MCC, Driveclub and LBP3 I don't have faith. CDProjekt Red has delayed their game twice. Rocksteady would rather delay Arkham Knight than release another Arkham Origins, thank God. There's nothing worse than a broken game at launch.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I'll get it digitally, so no sense in preordering it. I was going to get it day one, but after recent QA disasters like Driveclub, AC Unity and Halo, I think I'll wait a few days for reviews...I don't really mind QTEs and cutscene heavy gameplay, but bugs would piss me off.

In today's times, I don't feel like there's any reason to ever preorder a game.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

You know what games you just described that I love? Resident Evil 5 and Gears of War.

I don't need every game to offer me massive amounts of areas to explore I don't understand how this became a complaint for every game now. Repetitve combat ok please tell me all these amazing games that don't have repeitive combat. Shadow Of Mordor was  so loved and the combat was very repetitive which is fine becase it was fun as hell I didn't want it to change.

I don't mind anything of these things they said as long as it's done right.

1. repetitive combat - ok but is the combat fun? because if it is then that's fine if it's repetitive.

2. Hand holding - also fine as long as the world I do get to explore is fun and interesting. The last of us didn't have mass areas to explore and it was very fun.

3. QTE's - Depends again on what I'm doing on whether I will love or hate this

The scope of BF4 makes bugs understandable (5 platforms, 5 network infrasructures, 64 player online, tons of variables). To my knowledge battlefield 4s single player didnt have any bugs minus the save file corruption.

I have DAI on PC and the closest I've seen to a bug is companions standing on tables or chairs in tight areas. Thats not a bug per say buts its quite wierd to look at.

Bugs are just one of the things he mentioned. Gunplay, AI and QTEs probably wont get tweaked much this close to release. I dont believe in betting on day one patches, the basics need to be done right at launch.

The Order is a story driven game that looks fairly linear and yet it has clipping issues and sliding dead bodies. I dunno, yes it CAN be fixed but I highly doubt it will be, at least not on day one. Again thats ignoring everything else and focussing on just bugs.

Id like this game to do well because its trying to do things differently and I love its atmosphere but I cant just brush aside all the warning signs.

I don't need anybody to tell me what games should i buy and which i should not buy

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
