Forums - Sony Discussion - After SFV, do you think Silent Hills will be exclusive to PS4 or at least not on X1?

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I heard, the reason why SFV got ps4 exclusivity was cause the game wasn't going to get made otherwise? So Sony funded the game and hence why its exclusive so if say, thats true, unless Sony pays them enough money or funds the game development, I don't think so!

Not that I would care if it comes to PC anyway

If sony had funded SF5 there would be no PC version like demon's souls or bloodborne or bayonetta 2.Besides SF5 would exist without sony(it's the biggest fighting  franchise ever and the only ip capcom didn't screwed up last gen). What happened is sony probably offered capcom to pay part of development costs and probably will pay the marketing as long as capcom don't release the game on their direct competitor(this would explain the existence of PC version)

Well, maybe they partially funded it or something cause its a bit hard for me to believe that Capcom of all people would actually do this without asking for a lot of money. Yes, SF sells more on PS consoles but that is still a lot of money that could have been made on the x1. But then again, who knows what the actual deal is. Maybe only Street Fighter V will be exclusive to Playstation but Super Street Fighter V will be multiplat but obviously, thats just speculation and nothing more since no one really knows the details. Will be interesting to see how it goes

Hmmmmm. Silent Hills could be Sony's next target. Only if Xbox tries to take another one though.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Silent Hill was already confirmed as exclusive wasn't it? Thought that was old news from the reveal.

Nope, no Silent Hills platform has officially been announced (though PS4 can of course be expected).

I'm going to go with timed exclusivity on this one

I haven't looked but how much does silent hill games usually sell on MS consoles? If they sell double on PS platforms or betweem half ways then yes PT will be PS4 exclusive or at least timed exclusive. Look the Japanese consol market isn't great anymore and most Japanese devs support Japan before anywhere else. Sony is Japanese and Japanese publishers haven't exactly reaped the benifits of consoles last gen bringing there revenue down a lot. It makes more sense developing games for 1 platform instead of two especially now when the cost of game engines and new technology for next generation comes into play.

If I was a developer now with limited funds I would develop for the PC and the consol that has the biggest install base first and foremost and then decide on where to take my game after seeing sales on those platforms. PS4 has a big sales advangtage right now. Bigger than the X360 had over PS3 even after the fact it launched over a year before PS3 and we all seen the early Japanese support the 360 got because of that install base. When January hits and the X1 returns to 399 The PS4 will increase that sales advatage especially with all their exclusives next year. PT is coming to PS4 and PC first. Mark my words.
