Forums - Sony Discussion - After SFV, do you think Silent Hills will be exclusive to PS4 or at least not on X1?

I know this topic has probably been discussed when the game was announced and it might come a little out of the left field to bring it up now, but I've been wondering about this.

Reasons why I think the game could be exclusive:

1. P.T. was PS4 exclusive (that one's obvious)

2. Kojima had no problem releasing MGS 4 exclusively on PS3 and that was in an environment where that was a much greater risk. He has also been pretty open about believing that the PS4 is the better system between it and the X1.

3. Amazon.de has the game listed only on PS4 (though I realize that that really doesn't mean much)

But here's the problem: Why hasn't said exclusivity been announced yet? Is there any point from a marketing perspective to hide such a thing? I don't see one.

So here's what I believe: Konami and Sony have definitely been having (or are having) negotations regarding Silent Hills being PS4 exclusive, but as of August/September no decision had been made, so they released that teaser to see the reaction of the gaming public and to see how successful it is going to be. After, which I think we can all agree on, the massive success of P.T. the stakes have obviously been raised, Sony stands to gain more from this being exclusive and Konami stands to gain more from releasing this on Xbox (and PC) as well.

Now before SFV I would have definitely said that Sony wasn't going to pay to get something as potentially big as this exclusively from a 3rd party dev, but now I think that is a very real possibility, especially since they can allow a PC version to make the thing a little cheaper.

So basically, what do you think now, will Silent Hills appear on X1 or not?

I'm really surprised that PT still isn't on Xbox. Doesn't mean Silent Hills won't be on Xbox but it does hint at it somewhat.

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I heard, the reason why SFV got ps4 exclusivity was cause the game wasn't going to get made otherwise? So Sony funded the game and hence why its exclusive so if say, thats true, unless Sony pays them enough money or funds the game development, I don't think so!

Not that I would care if it comes to PC anyway

Because this is how the game would look on 360

I'm not surprised Silent Hill wasn't announced for Xbox. Silent Hill has always been on PlayStation consoles. Not every Silent Hill game went to Xbox though. Maybe Kojima has a slight bias against Microsoft. I can't say full on because otherwise, none of the Metal Gear games and Silent Hill games on the 360 would have went to Xbox.

This is another reason, (though I'm sure you meant better associated with PlayStation consoles, which would still be correct).

LOL I sure did mean that. Hehehe Terrible wording on my part.

It's very unlikely. SFIV sold 8M copies, why the hell wouldn't Capcom do a sequel of their highest selling games? It would make more sense to cancel 2 or 3 minor projects and put the money there if they wanted.

I can see Silent Hills being console exclusive. There's also a possibility of the game being timed exclusive to the PS4 and the X1/PC versions come out months later.

Well, it was cause of like that:

And from what like some other forum sites tell me, its cause it took a while to get a "Capcom worthy" return on the franchise so they didn't really want to but idk for sure

I see a possibility. But I think it will just have an exclusive PS4 marketing deal, thus the appearance of PT only on PS4.
Hopefully it will come on XOne as well, I don't mind if those people get to play it as long as I can play it, and also lessens the threat of a retaliation by Spencer.
