The poll seems to assume that they either expected to win, or couldn't drop the price. There's no option for "they did enough to sell well".
They didn't need to drop the price. Especially when they dominate worldwide. Microsoft did.
I don't feel like any of the poll options reflect my thoughts, so I haven't been able to select anything.

Many past months, MS, nintendo has sold well enough.. but yet no one seemed to cared except that sony outsold everyone..

Why change stance now for this month only? o_O

Because the rules of the game changed.

One company basically went all in to make sure they would win the hand, while the other company was ok with just folding and wait for the next round.

And IMO, considering all the measures MS has taken this year, from free Forza, free Titanfall, small price cut, and the unbundling of Kinect, to this major price cut and heavy bundling, I think they have been selling pretty badly all year in their strongest market where they dominated with the 360.

They aren't arrogant. They simply aren't trying.

Who can blame them when they are selling the way they are

Yes, Sony is in a position where the best they can do is doing about nothing. Every price drop, new studio, new licence would cost them millions, when they have the chance to make high profit and still have a big market share. Restoring profit is not an arrogant position.

On the contrary, starting a price war in their current situation as a company, with the billion dollar profit MS as an opponent would be arrogant... and stupid.

I am pretty sure sony does not care much at all about MS winning a month.

In ONE region.

Yeah that too.

Btw if MS would have called it Xbox THREE would it have won in THREE regions?  xD

Cost ?  Let's talk about cost... what does cost means, the real cost.

It looks like MS lost so much money with this very aggressive move.

Sony are not crazy enough to lose all those money to win every NPD in every year.

MS, on the other hand, had to make the last try.   But if they don't manage to compete in NA without losing so much money, you won't see another XBox after One, my opinion.

Pretty sure Sony doesn't care: the ps4 is still selling big numbers. Some people on the internet care though, for whatever reason.

Zealots at the highest level ? I say yes.

Sony are doing all great, sell numbers are insane, dominating in the Global, and competing with MS in their own territory, forced to 'pay' you to buy an X1...

I would say MS is in deep sh.. if they won't be able to compete without crazy deals and price.  The answer will be from Gen 2015 to Nov 2015.

This is not Sony arrogance, this is Sony winning this generation with a smile on their face.

Was it arrogance, maybe? I don't view it as that, they wanted to make a profit and their gaming department probably did make a bigger profit than MS this holiday since . Also, they still sold really well without dropping the price.

Xbox probably lost a lot of money this quarter.

Well technically they did win 3 region.

US, UK and China or 4 since I think they do very well in Brazil too.

Im sure MS lost a lot of money. Selling an Assassins Creed bundle for three months straight without stopping at a discounted rate? They had to do it because they are desperate. Its like I told Kowenki...MS doesnt care that the XBox One has sold the best it ever has. The Best for MS isnt the best for Sony. Microsoft knows that naturally Sony will outpace them if they launch side by side without any head starts. It forces them to resort to drastic actions. Sony doesnt need to follow them and it doesnt take arrogance to let go of one month (its actually quite humble of them). If Microsoft sold two million during November then maybe Sony should respond, but they didn't. They only had a 400k lead in November, which isnt much to even hurt Sony for the year. If MS was smart they would've launched the one before Sony instead of waiting for them, because giving Sony an inch will not help their cause if they came in this industry to stop them.

It's quite possible that pushing the price back up will have a negative effect on sales.

Personally though I think the momentum will continue regardless of the price returning to normal.

A spike isn't momentum, not yet. It's honestly more likely that holiday deals were anticipated/waited for. We haven't even seen if this position can be held with the price it is currently, let alone at normal.

There is no reason to think that even at the price advantage its sustainable. I say wait till December. Even though it's still holidays if XB1 can keep or increase the disparity, then its strong evidence, but right now, its premature.
