WiiU deserves second. PS4 deserves first. Those 2 always have the best third party/exclusive support gen after gen

Agreed. PS4 will most likely deserve first place at the end of this gen. But now I think Wii U deserves it by far. XBOX just seems pointless to me. Why does it exist? What iconic franchises does it have besides Gears of War and Halo? You can play most of their games on PS4 or PC. And they'll run better as well.

yeah I mean I'm sure there are those out there that really want it and love all the first parties and stuff but I just am never lured to them.  I was also factoring in all the free stuff and superior third party when I said PS4 deserved the top spot.  Stuff like sharplay is really next gen and I have greatly enjoyed Stick it to the Man, Dead Nation, Pixeljunk, Resogun, Injustice, Secret Ponchos, and others that have been free while also playing the heck out of TLoU Remastered, Destiny, Sleeping Dogs Definitive, Shadow of Mordor, Infamous Second Son and First Light, and soon LBP3.  Meanwhile my WiiU I bought in June has given me fun stuff like DKCTF, WWHD, MK8, SSBU, and Rayman Legends.

Yeah, like I said, currently Wii U is ahead (for me) but PS4 will have one hell of a 2015. And with third party support it will eventually get a lot of good games while Wii U will only get good Nintendo games. Nintendo is only one company after all, they should buy more studios! :p
DKC: TF is a true platforming beast, sooo hard yet satisfying when you finally master the game.

See DK seemed easier than Returns.  I beat it fairly quickly without going through nearly the frustration that I did when playing that silhouette level in Returns.  Then again I never go for all the collectibles in games like that.  And yeah poor Nintendo is left supporting 2 platforms basically on their own.  I can understand why they want to converge to one platform.  I would kill for a console Pokemon.  Luckily Smash and MK8 and soon Mario Party will have longevity needed to keep me coming back.

Well, you probably improved thanks to Returns (I never played that one). Did you beat the K levels? I can currently beat them with just Donkey Kong. I hate the final boss though.

I collected most puzzle pieces, found it very enjoyable, some were hidden extremely well.

Sorry OP, but just the indie scene alone on Wii U is so much better than you try to paint it.

In the first year, meaning through 2013? Yes, it was slow going and had it's issues. But through 2014, and especially within the last several months? It has literally become just as good and prolific, as far as steady flow of releases and quality of releases, on a weekly basis, as 3DS eShop. eShop on Wii U is kicking ass, honestly, and for those who haven't bothered to notice, more and more indie titles are announced as coming to eShop every month, sometimes every other week or more. And many of those are announced as only coming to Wii U (or only Wii U in addition to PC platforms). Meaning Wii U eShop is getting a substantial (IE significant) number of indie titles that are NOT coming to any Playstation or Xbox platforms. That alone is worth buying a Wii U over, in combination with Nintendo's own retail titles.

Yeah, the current third party situation on Wii U is pretty dismal, and it may or may not get better with improved system sales. Hell, companies like Ubisoft and Activision and EA themselves all stated quite plainly that their support of the console would pick back up when the console got a "large enough install base". So we'll either see if they're liars, or if they really do have business sense. It would certainly help if third parties would quit dumping half-baked or rushed content/ports onto Wii U. Even Sega, who has turned into a great partner for Nintendo, have dumped not one but too mediocre Sonic titles in the last two years onto Wii U. Games that COULD have been much better if they had only taken the time to polish them longer. But then again, I guess that's kind of Sega's MO these days anyway.

Regardless, does Wii U deserve to be "third/last"? In sales? Sure, I guess, whatever. But to me, and this isn't just bias talking, I think right now, when you combine the library of retail titles already out, including many of the really great Nintendo-made ones (two Mario games, Mario Kart, Smash, WW remake, Pikmin, Wii Sports, DKC, etc.), along with the great eShop digital content, and the fact that Wii U is the ONLY current gen console to offer totally FREE online play and also has 100% Wii backwards compatibility, and then look at the slate of great looking titles (retail and eShop) coming in 2015? I think Wii U makes a very strong case for itself as the "most bang for your buck" option of the three. And there is no way that Nintendo doesn't drop the price again in 2015 to spur sales and stay competitive. Meaning next year it'll offer all that at an even more affordable price.

This is not the case for the japanese eshop, and since the console is locked to using only that, my opinions on the matter are linked to that very situation.

Both the Ps4 and Xbox One will happy allow access to, and purchasing off of other stores across the world, but the region locking means the indie offering for me on the WiiU is genuinely disgraceful.

Not trashing on the game at all I actually thought Returns got annoyingly difficult at times.  And no I just beat the final boss and was done same with SM3DW.  I always just beat challenging games because once I'm done I feel accomplished but never wanna go through collecting a bunch of stuff while going through the frustration again lol

Call me old fashioned but equilibrium will be found when MS is out of the gaming industry.

*I liked you MS, but why'd you have to mess with gaming..

The WiiU deserve second place. Its my goto console. So many awesome game on that console and I use the gamepad constantly for netflix etc. The PS4 is good in first place, its more powerful and 3rd party support is there. The Xbone I don't really need it and I don't see the appeal there first party game does not look so good and the 3rd party games are better on the PS4.

I guess the differences here is perspective, actually owning and using consoles as apposed to bandwagons and pitchforks.

"Not overdoing it when you're ahead" and "losing focus" are two different things. Sony is pretty much on track with everything and they have a clear vision ahead. They're still getting tons of indies and exclusive deals, they're still making a ton of AAA exclusives, Morpheus is on the horizon, great improvements to the OS are slowly trickling in.

They may not be as fast and don't have a gigaton surprise every month but they certainly didn't lose focus.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Strange, i feel you made a similar thread some months ago.... curse my deja vu senses!

I dont whole heartedly agree with the OP but respect the concluding statement about the Xbone doing more than PS4 (as it is true) and that a flip of the coin will suffice in choosing one over the other but personally feel the Xbone is a more worthy choice at this moment in time.

THAT being said I feel your opinion is more on the tech side of things rather than games, although your taste in games must be vastly different to my own.

Sadly as much as I love my Wii U you do state the facts about it but again feel you are overly critical of the console. Yes it should be doing more to satisfy the gaming community though.
