Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can Microsoft Counter PS4's Street Fighter V Announcement?

Actually, I think the Street Fighter announcement was to counter the Tomb Raider announcement.

It might have been, but when I think deeper Tomb Raider deal was to counter Uncharted 4, so Sony didn't have to do anything.

This person is very correct

I'm sure the game of moneyhat tennis will continue. Microsoft will get timed or exclusive rights on something from EA/BioWare/PopCap, Bethesda or somebody. Fallout 4 exclusive to Xbox One sounds like music to Phil Spencer's ears although they will have to allow a PC version to be released at the same time.

I don't approve of moneyhatting but it's the way the business is now. Wasn't happy to wait 10 months to play Peggle 2 on PS4.

If countering with another fighting game then MS best chance is to get exclusive for Marvel vs. Capcom.

I would've said Tekken as well but that's already in the works for both platforms.

IMO they can't counter SF5 exclusives. SF to me is a fighting game that stands on it's own. It's always been the best to me by a long shot. Other fighters can be fun but SF has always been the best obviously IMO.

Now I guess they could counter it if they did something ridiculous and get a bunch of top 3rd party games exlusive. An exclusive resident evil might have been enough in the past but that series has fallen so far from grace I wouldn't care much.

Oh I agree with you about SF.  It's truly the best fighting game and no other can come close to it.  I also love the whole SF community and their passion where they truly show that SF is more than just a game.  No other fighting game has ever come close to the level that SF is at.

MS can counter easily but just depends on how much money they're actually willing to spend.  MS's Tomb Raider exclusive was to counter Uncharted but I still don't think that'll work all that well.

Easily? I don't think so.
Satya Nadella would never be able to justify such ridiculous use of funds, to the board of directors and shareholders.

I agree, securing Rise of the Tomb Raider for Holiday 2015, was their "counter" to Sony's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Yep completely agreed the community is great. Although I was pissed that I would beat people on 360 and they would give me bad rep. I wasn't even doing cheap things like constantly throwing or constant leg sweeps.

The TR things was a big deal to a lot of people but honestly I didn't care at all. The  game just wasn't that great to me it started off good but then it just got really boring and I struggled to finish it.

There'll always be the sore losers sadly.  But even if players do a number of throws or leg sweeps I still wouldn't consider it being cheap either.  I love playing SF cause it's all strategic.  To me, If my opponent can constantly throw my guy then my opponent is playing mind games on me so well that he's able to find openings to grab me.  Im sure it looks cheap as you'll see nothing but throws, but thats skill to me.

While Microsoft will get timed-exclusivity, Sony gets actual exclusivity - at least console exclusivity.

Anyone who says street fighter is hardcore or niche really know little about gaming.

Well I figured if MS was able to spend $2Billion on Mojang then they can do alot more with their money lol

For me personally the most realistic and effective counter would be Dragons Dogma, but if Capcom done that they would throw away the Japanese market that game done very well in.

That's the thing no one should be fucking countering by moneyhatting established franchises. Make your own fucking games!

lol, you must think we're in 1997 or something...
