Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It's time to talk, once again, about voice acting in Zelda U.

Do you think Zelda U should be fully voice acted?

Yes 233 45.24%

No 282 54.76%

Total:515

I think voice acting would be bad. Imagine if Link was voiced wrong. It would completely ruin your image of him. I'm sure Nintendo wants to keep the feeling that he is "your" link alive.

For the other characters, i think its fine though.

Read the OP

He said himself Link should remain voiceless.

I really don´t know why but Zelda with voice acting.... just don´t feel right to me, but maybe Nintendo will surprise us, Zelda needs some changes and that could be one but is not really important for the game to be great..

Another vote for no voice acting. First, I can read faster than people speak. Second, most video game voice acting is cringe worthy. Third, I'm not really a fan of cutscenes or game stories to begin with--give me something to do, not something to watch!

Voice acting costs resources. I'd rather those resources go towards dungeons and bosses. For a 50 hour game they would need a lot of voice actors which would only cost more. There is no cheap way around it, while I would prefer voice acting, I don't want them sacrificing any other aspect of zelda for this feature.

Zelda doesn't need it, so it probably won't have it.

Metroid: Other M is a good game by the way.

Triple agree here!

They should absolutely do voice acting and add another 3-6 months onto the development / localisation cycle. That would be awesome!

I agree with practically everything. Though you can't really expect hardcore Nintendo fans to see it your way, they're so fucking conservative when it comes to everything. Everything has to be a tradition that MUST be upheld. That mindset is why most of Nintendo's IPs haven't really changed much since years gone by, whether for good or bad.

Agree with what the OP says and agree with this too.

I'm okay with Link being silent, but for God sake Nintendo, it's 2014.

Edit: To expand on what you said, this has been one of my biggest issues with Nintendo and their fanbase, which affect the games as well. They both are too comfortable and too rigid for traditional values in games. As a result, it's just more or less the same thing that has been produced by them as well. IMO.

Can you blame them though? When other Japanese companies went "out of tradition," they fucked up their games pretty badly... Look at Resident Evil for example, once the pinnacle of survival horror is now this average action game and the last thing we want is Nintendo going the same route with their beloved franchises

Couldn't disagree more with these posts...

At least say why...
