Forums - Politics Discussion - Michigan House Passed Bill Allowing EMTs To Refuse Treatment To Gay People.

I'm positive that as a healthcare employee you're obligated, or at least morally obligated, to save human lives. I hope no actual self-respecting EMT would take part in this "privilege."

How pathetic.

Edit: Just read through the rest and hopefully this isn't passed. Still, it's sad it's gotten even this far.

That's stupid. Why would it matter if they're gay? How would the EMTs tell if a person is gay? Hell I'm in the party that thinks being gay is not natural and wrong but this is just stupid.

It's interesting that many Christians are so homophobic while at the same time fetishizing cult images of a largely nude well muscled beautiful young man in bondage.

Even after all these years... This is still an issue? Are you fucking kidding me? Its one thing to have an opinion but its another thing to go to this level

I hate living in Michigan.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

How? What? Why?

Parts of the USA becoming Christian-fascist states? Doesn't roll off the tongue quite so well as Islamo-fascism.

Gay person suffers a brutal and potentially fatal beating as a hate crime because he/she is gay. EMT is called, some bystander yells "Don't tough it, it's gay!" zealot EMTs run away. Brutal hate law turns brutal hate crime into brutal hate murder. Niiiiiice one America.

If i read it right, it sounds like they're trying to avoid the mistakes made with similar bills in Kansas and Arizona, which were much more clearly homophobic in origin.

I do wonder what the bill's proponents would say if a Muslim cab driver banned a menstruating woman from his vehicle, though.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It is somewhat ironic that they might pass this bill - if you're an EMT then your primary purpose is in saving others which in my mind supercedes religion, preference, mentality, political stance, etc.

Some of us just aren't cut out for that kind of work, in the same way that some of us aren't able to look at blood or lift heavy objects etc.

If your religion causes you to not save or help people, you're in the wrong religion.
