Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is it Worth it to buy the Wii Component Cables?

yes it is worth it. Go for the cheapest cables you can find (but not piranha!). Don't let nintendo rip you off because it's a popular brand. I got speedfire and they are fine.

There is actually a pretty big quality difference. For example, I have a Monster HDMI cable for my PS3, and also a brandless HDMI cable. The brandless one looks like shit compared to the Monster cable.

then you have a broken hdmi cable that is not working correctly

if the hdmi is working correctly and is built to SPEC, then you will see ZERO difference between the overpriced monster cable and a cable that costs 15 dollars

ZERO Difference IF the cheaper cable is built to specifications.

HDMI is a digital format- i have a quality (20 dollar) hdmi cable, i have a 70 dollar monster hdmi cable.

i could not tell a difference between video quality, i have since returned the 70 dollar monster cable.

monster cables are quality overpriced cables that for HDMI means ..they are overpriced crap--high quality crap, but crap the best buy markup on their cables is about 250% btw cost is about 25 dollars for a cable they sell for 70.

ALSO the high end monster analog cables are -again- not worth the premium pricing buy the LEAST expensive versions and there will be zero difference in sound quality.

a AV person did a blind study- nonscientific- just "which sounds better" the man used good quality speaker wire, the most expensive monster wire and.....

3 vinyl Coated coat Hangers Welded together...

12 experts in audio listened to the same music the person did not say what was hooked up at the time.

3 out of the twelve accurately said what was monster vs the other brand cable

not ONE person could find a difference between the coat hangers and the monster wiring....

Don't buy the cheapest don't buy the most expensive, just buy Nintendo ones. This way you wont be thinking what if ...

GS brand was $20, and Nintendo was $25. I really don't care. It's pretty hard to mess up when making video cables, and Most 3rd-party accesories offer a replacement system if it ruins it.

I have a tuner box that I hook into my monitor, it has component imput.

Alright  then you are set. How much did you pay for the box I plan on buying one.

60 bucks

go to tiger direct and type in "tv tuner" in the search, I got the Kworld one(works good)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Definitely worth it. If you're on a limbo, get some cheap ones, as they'll do fine. Even if you find you don't like the extra sharpness of progressive input, you'll still get better colors as a side effect. Then, just try all the different modes (both 480i/p and 576i) and see what you like best. For me it's definitely 480p, but I can see some liking 576i better.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

If you have an HD tv, then it is the only thing that will make it look decent.
