How do you mess up Halo MCC collection?  I owned all the FPS Halos games from 1, 2, 3, Reach, and 4 (except ODST).  Halo multiplayer is what made Halo.  I remember my friends and I brought over our Xboxes and our TVs for local lan multiplayer for Halo 1.  Bungie made great games, but I think most will agree that Halo 4 wasn't that good and was overall bland.  Halo 4 story was boring, and the multiplayer seemed just okay after playing BF3.  Not sure where Halo 5 is going with the story, but I hope they add some innovations to Halo 5 multiplayer (in addition to having a working server).

Halo 1 thru 3 were great multiplayer games at the time they came out.  However, since then, multiplayers such as Battlefield 3 and even COD games have builded on multiplayer.  If Halo 5 is more of the same, I doubt it'll be any good.

There is plenty of Halo 5 footage avaliable and an open beta for people like you who have doubt.

I would say you are probably in the minority regarding the campaign of Halo 4 though, as many classify it as the best in the series.

Are there any examples of the adoptive studio making better games out of the studio that created a franchise? I can't think of any. There are examples of developers making good games out of franchises someone else began, but not games that are better than what the original developer made.

I think they will. Only gripes I heard about Halo MCC was online and if they can fix that then Halo 5 will be fine.

The main problem is no one at 343 is really invested in the franchise, and they just trying to copy someone else's idea. It's not their baby, not their creation. It's why 4 arguably sucked and why MCC has so many problems. Destiny has very little content and has had it problems but it's still 10x better than Halo 4 and MCC. Why? Because Bungie is really good at what they do, even when they provide something that is lacking in content, and because it's their own creation, their own ideas, their own passion. It's why you can always tell a forgery from the original. It's like cola brand compared to coke. 343 will shine one day I'm sure but only when they have their own ideas, their own franchise to work with, Right now they are just the babysitter.

Good? Yes, it is very possible they will make a good game. But great as in Halo 1 or 2 caliber? Very doubtful. At the end of the day, they have been granted a licence to the Halo universe but do not have that organic collective that was responsible for Halo 1 and 2 being so good. Going by Bungie's Destiny, I doubt even Bungie could make a 'great' Halo game these days. I'm not saying Halo 1 and 2 were flukes, but certainly was lightning in a bottle that had all the right ingredients for that moment in time.
