We're starting to see more and more games that are becoming near unplayable without witnessing a plathora of bugs and glitches popping up and ruining your gaming experience. The product is clearly unfinished or hasn't been properly tested before release. In such circumstances should we be able to take the game back to the store and get a refund?

I mean look at Unity and Halo MCC. Many of these games remain broken weeks after launch until they finally put one hunded patches to fix them a month down the line. Heck I hear Halo: MCC is still broken one month after launch. That really ruins the game experience for the initial buyers who shelled out the cash day one. What do you think?

in a perfect world. yes

yes they should

No I don't think so. The only way this practice will stop is if people hold off buying games until they have read reviews and let the people who are paid to do it tell you that a game is buggy as hell. Simple answer is, don't buy the game in the first place if it is like that. Wait until/if it gets patched, and then buy it at a cheaper price.

Well, there are a few retail chains that do offer refunds. I think EB games does it within 3 days and some do it within 14 days as long as its not like an online only game or a downloadable code sorta deal obviously. But yes, in terms of digital titles, they should be offered a refund. This is like the only place where EA and Origin actually does a good job at cause with every Origin game, you have 24 hours to get a refund if you are not happy with ur purchase

No, its your choice to buy it day one or not.

I cant get a refund when my car gets a recall. And its issues could kill me.

I played Unity on day one and I only experienced 1 glitch during the entire playthrough. Dont really get the hate.

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

At the discretion of the publisher really. If anything gamers should pre-order less when a given publisher has lost trust that games were properly tested. Assassin's Creed III was such an unplayable buggy mess that stopped buying AC games and Unity has given no reason to change that view.

at least in america refunds are not a consumer right and it is up to the business to have a policy that allows returns. i doubt we'll ever see refunds in games but i'll bet we'd have a lot less broken at launch games if consumers could return them.
