Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If you hated Wind Waker, you'll really hate Zelda U.

U got all that from a 3 minute gameplay video

I got more, but that stuff doesn't relate to the WW topic. They revealed a lot in that video if you know what to look for.

I'll reserve my judgment until I see more. I sincerely hope they add more to the world.

If it's anywhere near as good as Wind Waker, it'll be in my top 5 Zelda titles, easy.

I hated Wind Waker because it was too damn easy. The cartoon thing, I could deal with. That never bothered me. The sailing didn't bother me either. But that difficulty was insulting to anyone over 12. That was our biggest gripe as adult, core gamers back in the day. It was made WAY too accessible.

As long as Zelda U is challenging, I'm good.

Honestly, all the 3D Zelda's are pretty easy, and I 3-heart-run every Zelda. (Aside from the Wii ones, because fuck motion inaccuracy) I don't really play games like Zelda to look for a challenge, though I do choose harder difficulties when I can. I do hope the allow Hero Mode from the start like in WW HD. That was awesome to do with 3 hearts.

Well, we went from MM which, without a guide, most people can't 100% to WW. That was such a HUGE drop off that alot of us thought it wasn't hard enough. I'll probably buy Zelda-U anyway (I mean, I own a freakin' Wii-U, what else am I going to play if not Nintendo's IP?) but I hope it's tougher than WW.

It already seems like there's a lot in the world. It's just that what they featured was horse travel. You can see places of intrest everywhere. Even in the trailer, there's a fort-like area, a bunch of watch towers, what looked like a stone cottage (on the lest when Link first gets on the cliff), a water fall, what looks like a shrine  or temple (after Link lands an looking down the mountain side), a lake, a small house (literally a cenimetre next to the aiming reticule in the scene where they first introduce the arrow), some sort of pillar, a giant stone archway that looks man made leading to something, and a volcano. That's just from things I recognized. The only way you could think it's barren is if you aren't looking for anything.

Also, the entire second half of the video, from the moment they head towards the "dungeon like area," they just run in a circle, as the pathway Link travels to get to that area is the exact same one leaves the area from and again ends up in as he is followed by the horses. They showed a lot less of the world than people think, and there was still a bunch of things to notice. Aonuma purposefully avoided going to those places, aside from the area with the Bokoblins, obviously.

Most people don't finish any Zelda. I seiously wouldn't say that MM is much more difficult that WW or any Zelda really. I do hope it's tougher because I like a challenge, but like I said, Zelda isn't really where I go to find one.

Well, I hope you are right. And I do think Nintendo will be listening to feedback anyway.

Slow sailing above an endless blue ocean in WW was boring. It was not as boring as the ocean in Assassins Creed 4 (that was REALLY boring) but it was boring nonetheless.

Wind Waker HD speeded up the boat from the beginning and that paced the game a lot. You can not compare sailing over an flat blue ocean and riding through a landscape the latter is far more varied by nature.

Considering we know next to nothing about Zelda u, its not worth comparing it to anything yet, apart from visual style that is. Also Epona is not anything like the king of red lions, one is a horse and one is a boat lol ;)

Where did you hear that most people don't finished Zelda games? That sounds crazy to me. I mean, it's a single player only, offline game. There's only ONE objective... beat the game. Why would anyone want to buy something like that if they didn't intend to beat it?

People...I swear.
