Forums - Sony Discussion - Phil Harrison doesn't believe Playstation 3 is the future of the industry?

I'm still sad that Phil left. Sure, he was behind a lot of casual stuff like Buzz! that'd I'd never play, but he was also the one that signed contracts with companies like Media Molecule. Would LittleBigPlanet be near as awesome without Phil getting involved?

Also, I believe that the quotes in the OP are taken quite a bit out of context. Soprano1 provided the full quote, and it doesn't paint quite the same picture as that in the OP.

LOL just by the title i knew it was legend.

only a few on here are as scared of the PS3 as he is.

Yea, but I like how some other guy said it. "Let's get off the Jump to Conclusions mat." lol I love Office Space.

That was me, but I said that in reference to a much bigger stretch than what Legend is putting forth.  And as far as it being "unethical" to bring this up, this is a discussion forum, not a news post.  Legend isn't speaking as a reporter, and he has no obligation to present himself as neutral as possible.  There's nothing unethical about this post.

to the OP why are you TWISTING THE STORY? the artical says nothing about whay he left sony. here is the same quote that you posted: Thank you, David. It's a great pleasure to be here. As you may know I had a different job last Friday, and I have a new job today. After 15 years at Sony Computer Entertainment, where I had the chance to be part of something really special, and I'm incredibly proud of everything that company has achieved, the things that excited me the most, the things that turned me on as a gamer, and as a business person, and as a creative person were the future of our industry, the connected community experiences. All the things we're starting to see emerge that are really exciting players around the world. And those are the things I started thinking about in terms of creating a company or getting involved with a company to really shape and direct a business towards that future. they did not ask him why he left sony, those are his words prasing sony. why do people still post FUD about the ps3? its getting real old its needs to stop. go out side and some pu#sy instead of being on here posting bull sh#t.

I think you're close to the truth.  Phil H. seems to have liked what Sony has accomplished, and I take his statements in this context to mean that he's inspired by where gaming as a whole might be going and wants to contribute to that in some way.  I've always gotten the vibe that if you're not Japanese, you're not going to really be in control at Sony, and I believe that probably has something to do with why Phil H. left, but I don't see that anywhere in this article.

Not unethical, agreed.  But either Legend11 is being very disingenuous or he is reading WAY too much into things.  The actual context is Harrison saying how great it was being at Sony who did all those things, and he speaks of them as ongoing, so he clearly is not implying that Sony's days of innovating are numbered.  He is clearly praising Sony and saying that he wants to make the same kind of positive changes he was part of at Sony at his new position with Atari -- as in, "my work here is done, time to go find a new challenge".  Typical not-burning-your-bridges talk, to me.

Maybe Harrison has been badmouthing Sony elsewhere.  But not here.
