Forums - PC Discussion - Building a PC

I'm building a PC after more than 10 years.

My budget is $600ish canadian unless I can get on those monthly no interest plans.

After doing extension research I concluded that the AMD FX-8350 gives most bang for the buck so I want to build around that.

I'll be using this PC mainly for programming, light video editing, image editing; gimp, inkscape, photoshop, android sdk, VMWare, Sony Vegas.

So a little help is required from the community to help me finish this build.

Thanks in advance.

SLI GTX 980

For the GPU, I'd suggest a R7 265 or a R9 280.
Cases are up to taste, but for the money, I'd look for something mATX. Gigabyte has some good boards.
You'd need a power supply of around 600W (650W to 700W might be a bit safer, especially if you're going to overclock the CPU). Coolermaster has reliable power supply's.
You also have a lot of choice concerning RAM, but with a FX 8350, you'll be bound to DDR3. 8 to 16 gb's of 1600Mhz or 1866Mhz will be sufficiënt, Gskill has some nicely priced memory sticks.

To add to wolfpackn64s suggestions..
Go for
FX 8320 and then overclock. It's the exact same CPU as 8350...

Otherwise 280 or 280x are a solid choice with 3gb of ram.

You'll want 16 or 32 gigs of ram if you're doing VMware or video editing/encoding

256 gig ssd plus 3-4 tb external should suffice storage wise.

I'm not familiar with Canadian pricing, care to link to any online stores that you would use?

Use these two websites to help with picking out parts that fit your budget and with making sure they are all compatible with each other.

Personally, I would advise against getting an AMD CPU, and get an unlocked i5 if you plan on overclocking.

Get an R9 290 if you can squeeze it in, otherwise everything cheaper is retarded in term of pricing right now for the most part. Maybe an R9 280 if you can find one for ~$180.
