Forums - General Discussion - Night sky pictures (large pics!)

I recently got a Orion Skyquest XT6 Dobsonian Telescope a month or two ago, I've got some decent images so far. I have a eyepiece camera on the way which I bought recently which will allow me to take crisper shots of planets and other things. Honestly some of the best money I've spent in a while, a telescope is something amazing to have!

This star is called Sirius, which is the brightest star in the night sky!

Those are incredible shots! Amazing the level of detail you can pick up on the surface of the moon.

I actually spend a lot of time looking up at the night sky (just with the naked eye). I find it very peaceful.

Thanks man! I've seen Jupiter tonight, but through my current camera, seeing the bands on Jupiter's surface is impossible due to the brightness of the planet. I have an eyepiece camera coming in the mail that will allow me to take a better shot with detail of it's bands, so I'll keep this updated :)

And yeah, looking up at the night sky on a clear night is amazingly soothing. It's insane fathoming what is out there, that's one of the reasons I picked up a telescope :)

Damn. You make me want to get a telescope.

If you can spot some planets, upload them!

I did get a picture of Jupiter, the bands are not visible through my current camera due to the brightness of the planet, but I have a camera coming in the mail which will allow me to get a better picture to make those bands visible :) But here it is anyways, you'll be able to see it's 4 moons. Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.

When i was  a kid i always want to be an astronaut or astronomer, but my math is sucks, so i ended in Hospitality Industry Lol. Either way nice picture, why don't you take a pic of some megalanic cloud or a Nebula?

I promised Jupiter, here it is. Took a lot of persistence, standing in the cold, to finally get this shot and get the bands on the planet to my liking. Will get better in the future, this is just the beginning!

Full moon.

I finally did it guys, Got a somewhat decent picture of Saturn!

It took a lot of persistence, I was freeeeeeeezing out there, the planet moves so fast it was very hard to track, took me about an hour to get this picture!
