Forums - Politics Discussion - What were the long term problems Egyptians had to deal with after the Plagues of Egypt?

Assuming this story was true, I would guess Egypt was changed back to normal once Israelis were freed. Or they were able to adapt. Or the plagues weren't as widespread as we commonly think.

As to today, I would say most governments would declare a pandemic but not get things done fast enough to save the world in any capacity.

If you want to know what happpened in Egypt during the time of Ramesses II or one of his successors, you have to look at Egyptian sources of that time. Not at a religious text that was written down around 600-800 years later.

And no, there are no indications that Egypt suddenly suffered from massive plagues at that time. Entire regions were abandoned due to environmental changes, but that were developments over centuries, not sudden events.
The ten plagues seem to be hyperboles of natural events. So yes, they're probably loosely based on real issues that people had at that time, but they weren't as bad as described.

The only way to get a correct answer is to recreate the scenario. There is no data available. Rebuild the egyptian society somewhere in a desert dont tell them they are in the year 20xx. send an actor and use technology to recreate the plagues. and observe them for a decade to know what they do afterwards

A volcanic explosion is what is supposed to have served as the historical basis for the Exodus story, the same volcano that wiped out the Minoan civilization. Seismic activity releasing gas into the Nile would have started the process, otherwise playing out as you described it in the OP. Interestingly, even the "firstborn" thing would have worked because of where different Egyptian household members would sleep (firstborn lowest to the ground, and if you have toxic natural gas flowing around in places...)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Egypt after Ramses 2 is not that great anymore, it must be the Plague fault. The rest you know how ROME conquered Egypt in the end.

They had to deal with a long term PR disaster. The spread of outrageous fear mongering stories brought down the tourism industry.

Today's governments would pretend everything is fine and build large fenced tourism compounds to keep the money coming in.

Easy. Social Security collapse due to the lack of income a few years after the death of the first borns. It happens in all pyramidal systems when the base crumbles.
