Can everyone agree that White American police officers are above the law? - No indictment in Garner case......

Forums - Politics Discussion - Can everyone agree that White American police officers are above the law? - No indictment in Garner case......

I just read up on this case today and IMO its ridiculous this cop is getting NO time for this. He preformed an illegal choke hold on a man that wasn't even adamantly resisting arrest and as a result killed him. All of this just because the cops suspected Garner of selling second hand cigarettes... REALLY!?

Usually I can see both sides of the arguments in these type of cases, but its so blatantly obvious the cops actions directly resulted in killing Garner that I really cant see how you can defend the cops actions in this case.

of course I'm NOT joking. those people treat life so lowly, they must be punished.

So you're offended they treat life so lowly yet you are perfectly okay with hanging them? Not just the cop who performed the chokehold but those around him as well?

I am speechless.

of course, it's called justice. don't you agree people who treat life lowly should get punished? those around him were a part of the murder, since they ganged up on him and didn't stop when he started choking.

There is such a thing as serving time in prison, you don't have to automatically resort to the taking away of life. You were awfully quick to jump to the act of hanging.

Funny, I don't recall blaming the victim. An accident by definition doesn't have active perpetrators.

I agree, but this was no accident.

So were the officers aware of Garner's health problems? If they were aware excessive force could have killed Garner then yes, this was not an accident. If they weren't aware then this was in fact an accident. For all we know, Garner himself might not have been aware of his own health problems.

Whether or not the cops were aware of Garners health problems are irrelevant. The cop knew the choke hold he used was illegal. Its illegal for a reason... Its becuase it's inhuman, harmful and evedentually results in peoples deaths...

serious.

Before people would be afraid of criminals, now they're afraid of cops, police state indeed.

Don't worry, as long as you're not too fat, their dogpile tactics and chokeholds shouldn't kill you when you get suspected of selling untaxed cigarettes.

Maybe.

Mannn, I've heard smoking can kill you but this is ridiculous....

The choke hold he used isn't illegal.  Its not permitted by the department but he didnt break any laws by using it.  I dont think it even was a choke hold since the man was able to speak when the cop had him in the headlock.

Either way he shouldn't have done it. What the cop did directly reulted in Garners death period.
