Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dragon Age: Inquisition is the Game of The Year (no spoilers)

Sorry, I don't understand. Demons souls and dark souls are horrible games, sorry.

It looks amazing, I might get it.

I'm loving the game, even after being a doubter at first. Unlike other recent games (looking at you Ubi), it also runs decently well on PC too. The only thing holding it back from game of the year is kinda bad character models and animations, the hair looks like it came from a PS2 game, lips shine waaaaay too much, and a bunch of the characters, especially the romance options, have really mediocre looking models and are very limited, compared to the Mass Effect games at least. It was a real bummer when I realized that the only straight options were human, and neither was really all that appealing (one isn't even a party member, the other gets outclassed very fast in the game).

9.5/10 from me, I love the game dearly, but I still think either Bayonetta 2 or Smash U deserve the reward more.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

I haven't noticed a lot of the issues you're talking about, what are you playing it on? Also I have to completely disagree on your opinion of the story. I think its really good and the war table/power makes it seem more real because you have to build up the inquisitions power before taking on this evil godlike entity.

PS4. And I respectfully disagree. There are a lot of other examples show how poor the story telling is imo, but I think I made my point clear with one example.

I disagree, you pointed out one overly picky "problem" with the story and said that made it bad...your character was accused of causing the rift, that's pretty good motivation to want to close it to prove your innocence.

Oh and the freaking dragons really do kick your ass in every way, shape or form.

Haven't even taken one on yet, took a giant (or whatever it was on) and won.

And i only just worked out what the Shards are for 27 hours in. :P

Hmm, pie.

Oh man, I took on the initial dragon in the Hinterlands and it just crapped all over me. Unlike in Skyrim where the dragons are pushovers, this game actually gives them terrifying power that they deserve.

Giving it GOTY is debatable, but it still is a really good game and I give props to Bioware for how well put together it is.

i could only defeat it with my rogue, varric( sera AI seems dumb as fuck ) and cassandra tank and me constrolling healer mage and pausing all the time to push varric far from the dragon, the rogue keep dying so i had to take all the potions from him or he just wasted them all.

You can limit the amount of potions characters take can't you? I think most are set to 2 only, but the player character might be more open. Check their tactics stuff.

I'm no going to try and take one on yet until I've done a bit more story. In DA:O and DA2 the dragons were the hardest bosses, so don't intent to do it yet. I gots times.

Hmm, pie.

I have to say, after the catastrophy of the Mass Effect 3(get the good ending for dlc). I partially lost faith in Bioware and more importantly EA as they are the ones who inflicted the dlc. However I have only heard good things about this game, so if I'm not bankrupt by the end of fall, i'll probably pick it up.

Until then I can't say whether or not it deserves goty from personal experience. Contrary to that I've played SSb4 and have seen that it is the highest rated (non-remastered) game this year so my bet for goty is on that. Again huge Mass Effeect fan, and I guess in a sence Dragon age would be a fantasy (not sci-fi) Mass Effect experince.

You must have hated dark souls then .

My favorite game of all time actually.

The technical side is only one aspect, not a major thing for me unless it is game breaking. As you can see, it is only one point out of many I mentioned.

sorry to bother you again but ... its the last time.
Cons:
-Below average graphics (technically) with some issues and noticeable bugs. dark souls have it
-The lack of day-night cycle and dynamic weather systems. such features are important for games that aims to make the world as immersive as possible like Dragon Age. like dark souls
-Battle system that doesn't evolve, no need to adapt to different kinds of enemies, lack of need for planning. The best thing to do is always using the strongest ability available. + Magic barrier.   battle system is dark souls is amazing but you are saying this to dragon age and i could no disagree more.
-Big delay in taking or causing damage when a lot of things happens at once.  i dont even know what you talking about on this one
-The lack of fluidity in animations and facial expressions, the character almost doesn't feel like humans at times. It is also affect the battle system; the enemies animations are not fluid enough which make some attacks unpredictable.. which make abilities like parrying and evading unusable at tames.
- imprecise hit boxes, getting damage even when you are away from enemies. huge problem in dark souls and in the multiplayer is disgusting.
- Story telling. One example (You start in a middle of explosion and then... "I'll do what I can to save the world"..) I need to care about the world first then I'll care about saving it.  do i need to compare ? guy wakes up in the dungeon ... go save the world, you need to dig deep to get the story in dark souls
- Fragmented story, accessible only through war table, which kills the sense of progress and having a true deep adventure. You go on a misson you go to your castle but that is bad? ok , i guess you prefer a linear rpg like finalfantasy

double standarts much? i just wanted to understand but to me seems you have problems in dragon age that dont bother you in dark souls , i love both games, but i love them for what they are, they are very diferent, i guess you prefer way better the dark souls type.

It's like comparing final fantasy and elder scrolls. Dark Souls and Dragon Age are not aiming for the same type of experience, dude.
