Well, I expected it to simply stay at 250, instead, it went up in price.

I thought they would have by now. Maybe they have come to the conclusion that it is too late to make any kind of of substantial impact, and they would rather lose as little money as possible on each unit.

Voted that because Xmasizzle.

I knew it would be 2015 at the earliest

Nintendo is likely riding out the Holiday season to profit as much as they can off of each unit. Next year I expect a Sub-$200 bundle with a standard controller instead of a tablet.

The Wii U is already at a good price for what you're getting. I don't see why people want it cut so much. Here, I'll put it this way. The only way a price cut will happen is if:

A: Nintendo decides to release a GamePadless SKU

B: The GamePad becomes much less expensive to produce.

They have to make sure that they sell the console at a price to where they make decent profit during the console's lifetime. Just because a price cut would make us happy, it doesn't mean it will make Nintendo happy.

I think it will be March, via direct as always.

Why would it need a pricecut. It has the best value!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I was hoping for a price cut, so I just bought a refurbished one instead.

Because there are multiconsole people who say that they love wii u games but they won't pay 299$ just for the first parties.:P
